DLE2050 making strange spinning noise

Dryer was working fine (nice and quiet), when the flow sensor went off, and stopped the dryer. I cleaned out the filter, and restarted it. The dryer started making a vibration spinning noise like it was rattling from within. If you spin the drum manually, once you reach a certain speed, it starts the rattling until it slows a little. Would this be the rollers? O rmaybe the belt has sttretched? I noticed that I can push the drum towards the back of the unit and pull it forward a little more than usual (at least it seems looser.

I guess I wasnt clear enough. The dryer works ok, except for the rattling sound now. It will start when i push the start button, it heats, and dries the clothes. Just noisy where before the flow sensor went off, it was pretty quiet.

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.

SOURCE: won't spin or start

Sounds like the screen/sock combo got the tub in a bind and the drum belt broke.

If you want to pursue replacing the belt, let me know.

Hello there and welcome to Fixya :

Show all parts for model GEW9878LW0 For the symptom you selected, these are the most common parts or causes, ordered by the likelihood of fixing the symptom.
othercausesandconditions.jpg Air Flow Problem The most common problem when a dryer is slow is when the vent is clogged. If the dryer is slow, check the vent from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house. If that is clogged, clear it completely and test the dryer. If the dryer is slow after the vent is cleaned, clean the internal ductwork of the dryer. This will require some disassembly.

The blower wheel draws air through the dryer and pushes the air out the vent. If the dryer won't stop, the blower wheel may not be spinning properly, which reduces the air flow. Check to see if the blower wheel is securely fastened to the drive motor shaft.

Maytag electric dryer model MDE6000AYW dryer is running but not getting hot and drying clothes plus making a dining noise every couple seconds while running

Dryer Does Not Run
Your Kenmore Oasis dryer may occasionally not operate as intended. When the dryer does not turn on, check that the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check your fuse box to make sure a fuse hasn't blown or the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker as needed. Next, check that you have fully closed the dryer door; if not, the dryer will not run. Finally, make sure that you press and hold the "Start" button for at least five seconds.
Dryer Making Noise
Kenmore Oasis dryers will make noises that occur commonly with the running of the machine, including the motor and the sound of hot air blowing into the machine. Listen for uncommon noises with the running of the dryer, such as metallic clanking and excessive vibration. These noises indicate a problem with the machine.
If you hear metallic clanking, stop the dryer and check for any metal objects in the dryer drum. Often, change or other objects left in the pockets of clothing placed in the dryer will then fall out when the dryer starts spinning, creating the noise.
Excessive vibration often occurs when you have not properly leveled the dryer. To check whether the dryer is level, turn it off and try shake it frontward and backward, then left and right. If the dryer moves, adjust one or more of the legs needs to level the dryer: Determine which leg(s) you need to adjust and use a wrench to lengthen or shorten the legs. A level dryer will more quietly due to the elimination of vibrations.
Drying Time is Too Long
You may find that your laundry takes a long time to dry in the Kenmore Oasis dryer. This often occurs due to restricted the air flow within the machine. First, clear the lint filter. Clean it before every drying cycle to ensure proper air flow through the machine.
Next, run the dryer as usual and check the exhaust vent to ensure that airflows out of the vent. If you cannot feel air flowing through the vent, check it for blockage or damage. Clear any objects blocking the vent, or replace it if it has sustained damage.
The blockage may also occur in the exhaust hose attached to the back of the dryer. Unplug the dryer and remove the hose from the back of the machine. Clean out any lint or other obstruction and reattach the hose to clear the exhaust hose.

Knocking sounds

Ususally knocking is a sign that the rubber belt which spins the dryer tub is old and has hardened. If the knocking sound gets quieter after you have run the dryer for 30 minutes or so, then the belt is the problem. As the dryer turns, it heats up the rubber belt and makes the belt more pliable. This quiets the knock. I have seen dryers work fine for years, knocking the whole time. Have the belt replaced if the sound bothers you.
