SOURCE: i do not know my guest password for my router so

Did you install the Cisco connect software on your main computer. If you have installed the Cisco connect softwrae then you will find the Guest network access password . Otherwise you will need to access the router setup page and check the wireless settings.

SOURCE: Hi..I have a Linksys Wireless

Is the computer that you used to configure the router still working? if yes, then on that computer there is a "linksys.txt" file on the desktop. All the router info will be there. Other than that, you need to reset the router.

How do I recover from lost guest password?

If you can log into the router you should be able to simply reset the guest PSK to whatever you like. If you have a computer that can successfully connect to the guest network you can open an elevated command prompt on it and type netsh wlan export profile name="ProfileName" folder="C:\" key=clear Replace ProfileName with the SSID for the network.

How do I find the cisco Guest access password this is the first time I have been asked for it.

Hi Nancy. This prompt appears when you are trying to log into a wireless network under the 'Guest' login on the wireless router. If it is your own network, you can set up a username-password pair through your router management. If it is someone else's router, you will need to obtain a username-password from the administrator to obtain access to the network.

Want to get my Cisco guest password

Open Cisco Connect then click Guest access. The password is displayed under the Password header.

To go to the Guest access option using Cisco Connect, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Select Guest access at the main screen of Cisco Connect

In the Guests access settings window, you can enable or disable the Allow guest access, change and check the password for the guest network, or change the number of Total guests allowed.

NOTE: The Guest network name is the main network's SSID with -guest as a suffix. If you want to change the guest network's name, you will need to change the main network's SSID.

How do Setup a password for my router already have one password need to set a password for guest

You need to use your browser to log in to your router. Locate the guest account in the menu and set a new password. If you'd like, many routers allow you to disable guest accounts entirely. If you need specific step-by-step instructions, I need to know what brand and model router you are using, what OS your computer has, and what browser you use for accessing the internet.

How to secure the router

  • First of all you need to change the default password and put your own password.

  • Many routers today will offer two different security schemes: WEP and WPA. We recommend WPA security, since it is more secure than WEP.
  • The SSID is the name that identifies your wireless router. By default, many routers will use the name of the router as the default SSID, for example, Linksys routers will often use 'Linksys' as the SSID. This is a security risk since it identifies the brand of the router and would let any attacker immediately know what exploits to use.

  • If firewall is available then enable it.
  • Disable SSID broadcast
  • Enable the wireless MAC filter. The Wireless MAC filter feature will only allow a wireless device to connect to your router if the MAC Address has been entered into the filter list.

Want to put lock on guest

Linksys E series routers can broadcast 2 wireless networks. First one is the main wireless network which is secured wireless network.
The second network is a guest network which will always show you unsecured.
It will never show you secured and you can not make it secured.
However it has a web based security.
Anyone can connect to the guest network but will not be able to access Internet without Guest access password.
In other words there is a security.
You can disable guest access also.

I am trying to set a network using a linksys1000 router a a verizon 6000g modem. When run the program it said not setup?

You need to properly configure the linksys router to work with your modem. If you have a verizon modem, I believe you need to get a username and password to your ISP.

Hi; We have guests that want to access our home wireless network. When trying to connect to our network........... they see a list of available network and when they select our network it does not ask...

Have you go MAC address filtering enabled, if so you will need to add the MAC address to your wireless router's MAC address table.
It is very difficult to diagnose the problem without knowing your wireless router's configuration and the wireless card configuration in your friend's computer.
The easiest way to give them access is to use a LAN cable, provided you have spare LAN ports on your wireless router.
