TV turned off by itself, now wont turn back on!!!

Hello, first off if anyone can help me figure out whats wrong, I thank you in advance!! the other day while watching TV, the TV just shut off, at the same time ( and they are not plugged into the same wall) my fish tank filter shut off at the same time, thought I had a power outage for a second.the filter came on after a second of being off,so I went to turn on the TV and it would not turn on. I've never had a problem with the TV and have owned it since new when I purchased it in late '04 if I hold down the power button on the TV itself, the green light will blink a few times but wont turn on the TV.any suggestions? I'm not 100% sure of my model but here is a link to the way it looks ( like this exactly) thanks again for any help!

thanks for the suggestions,I've completely forgot I asked these questions for help on the TV,I've been going nuts without a TV and had to rely on my computer for movies and some type of entertainment ( which is very dissatisfying ) . I just moved and the TV is currently unplugged,.. I'll plug it in now to see if it will turn on and see if that hard reset "CompuGuy44" suggested works.

like I said it was odd that it may have been a power surge or something to that effect when my fish tank ( on a different wall in the living room) shut off the same time the TV did,so I was hoping maybe it went into some mode that can be unlocked due to a power surge.

like I said, all it does is,.. well nothing really.I have to hold down the power button on the TV itself for a few seconds before the green power light will come on and when it does it starts to flash a few times, then nothing ( light wont stay on). my friend said he can hear something going on in the back on the TV ( possibly a buzzing noise stating its getting power) but I dunno.

after reading people having so much trouble with these TV's,; I really regret it,I never grew up in a house with big screen TV's so this was a proud purchase for myself once I was on my own with my own place.$1,700 down the drain after less than 3 years :/

It has gone into protection mode. This is caused when a short circuit is detected by the power management system inside the tv. Try a hard reset: Unplug the power cord for a full 4 hours; then try it again and see if it will clear the protection fault and reset it. If the reset does not help you will need to have a tech look at the set and take voltage measurements inside to determoine which section of the tv has failed and what components will need replacement. The cost of repair is always over $150 and could be much more, depending on the specific parts that need replacing. for example, if the convergence ICs have burned out the repair is around $350. The flashing of the standby light may mean something, but I do not know the diagnostic code RCA is using; most RCA models do not have any diagnostic blink codes in the set. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help further.

Hi after a lightning storm my tv went off the same way. A repairman that wouldn't work on my tv told on the phone how to fix it. It will only take a few minutes and less than a dollar to try. I am not a repairman but hey it work for me for the time and money it is worth a shot. There is a small clear round tube like fuse in two silver prongs near the area where your plug in goes into the back of the tv. You have to get up in there it is hard to see, but you will know it when you see it, it's a stereo fuse. Try to replace that.

Hello, My elderly Mom has a Trinitron KV-32S10 tv and the stand-by light is continuously blinking and there is no picture, but there is sound. I have unplugged the tv and waited 2 minutes and plugged back...

The blinking light is the fault code to enable the engineer to have a good guess at where the fault area lies.
Count the blinks and tell a Sony repair shop, they will have a good idea of the cost.
Hope that helps.

JVC av48wp30 question... I just replaced the STK 392 110s in my tv. I don't know what I did, however when I push the power button the tv clicks, as if wanting to turn itself on...but no picture or sound....

hello. 1/ did you go into service menu and mess with any settings before you changed the ic, if so this will cause the tv not to switch on 2/ did you test the resistors in front of the ic and the capacitors at either end. also there may be some protection fuses on the board that may have shorted i'll see if i can get service manual for you try get this tv back up and running thanks

Mitsubishi ws-55819 power problem

Hello DaveDaveDave, Ok let's levelset as is said in the business world today. it looks like you have an overcurrent protection problem which means that the tv set has a component that is causing excessive current to be drawn. Now this can be caused by a component withc has become "leaky" (by leaky this means the inability to prevent the flow of electrons as related to dc voltage). Your last statement is the reason I am replying how I am. Since you don't have equipment your only option is to take this set to a TV repair shop and have it repaired. I have given you a possible cause a component in the HV section that may have gone bad, but without substantial data as to the voltage levels and signal appearances, one can only guess. I hope this helps and you find what you are looking for. Thank you, Shuttle83
