Hello, first off if anyone can help me figure out whats wrong, I thank you in advance!! the other day while watching TV, the TV just shut off, at the same time ( and they are not plugged into the same wall) my fish tank filter shut off at the same time, thought I had a power outage for a second.the filter came on after a second of being off,so I went to turn on the TV and it would not turn on. I've never had a problem with the TV and have owned it since new when I purchased it in late '04 if I hold down the power button on the TV itself, the green light will blink a few times but wont turn on the TV.any suggestions? I'm not 100% sure of my model but here is a link to the way it looks ( like this exactly) http://www.directvmall.homestead.com/files/D52W20_SR_OS.gif thanks again for any help!
It has gone into protection mode. This is caused when a short circuit is detected by the power management system inside the tv. Try a hard reset: Unplug the power cord for a full 4 hours; then try it again and see if it will clear the protection fault and reset it. If the reset does not help you will need to have a tech look at the set and take voltage measurements inside to determoine which section of the tv has failed and what components will need replacement. The cost of repair is always over $150 and could be much more, depending on the specific parts that need replacing. for example, if the convergence ICs have burned out the repair is around $350. The flashing of the standby light may mean something, but I do not know the diagnostic code RCA is using; most RCA models do not have any diagnostic blink codes in the set. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help further.
Thats common failure on your tv. is a bad flayback if you can replace it you can fixed for less than 100.00 or you can order the board for around 160.00 order your parts at vancebaldwin.com. let me know If you need more info Have a nice day
Hi after a lightning storm my tv went off the same way. A repairman that wouldn't work on my tv told on the phone how to fix it. It will only take a few minutes and less than a dollar to try. I am not a repairman but hey it work for me for the time and money it is worth a shot. There is a small clear round tube like fuse in two silver prongs near the area where your plug in goes into the back of the tv. You have to get up in there it is hard to see, but you will know it when you see it, it's a stereo fuse. Try to replace that.
