Our power went out two nights ago for roughly 5 hours. The next morning the temperature of the refrigerator was 20 degrees and the freezer 1. Today the temps are still the same and everything in the frig is freezing. Tried to raise temp on key pad but the refrigerator temperature remains at 20 degrees. Please help!!

This is actually stating "HI", as in either the refrigerator or freezer, temperatures are Hi and not at a safe level. First, press any button to stop the alarm and clear the HI temperature. If you are still receiving the alarm, I suggest checking the freezer, to make sure that everything is still frozen, and nothing is defrosting as, well as checking the refrigerator temperatures. If things are defrosting or the temperature is Hi in your refrigerator, I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. When power is restored, Give your freezer 24 hours to stabilize at the default temperatures of 0 degrees for the freezer and 37 degrees for the refrigerator.
I understand the freezer portion is not working properly on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# GLRS234ZA. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and make sure the temperatures are set to 0 degrees for the freezer and 37 for the refrigerator. Give your refrigerator 24 hours to stabilize at the set temperatures. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Hi You have condesation built up in your freezer whereby the evaporator fan or the vents are most likely blocked off.
Turn fridge off. Empty freezer and either put a pot of boiling water inside freezer or with the aid of a hair dryer try to defrost the freezer. If you are able to remove the back panel on the freezer that would be ideal as you can directly target the frost. Good luck Ash
1.
The first thing you must know is that your refrigerator should be
set at 37-38 degrees. Anything at 40 or higher and you are risking
food born illness (food poisoning) or spoiling your food. Place your
magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator.
2.
Set your dial on your refrigerator to the second lowest setting. (If
your refrigerator is already equipped with a digital thermostat,
simply set it for 37 or 38 degrees and do not move on to the next
step)
3.
After 2 hours, check your thermometer reading. If your reading is 38
degrees, there is no need to go higher and you are ready to put your
groceries in. Be sure not to open and close your refrigerator during
these two hours or your temperature reading will be incorrect.
4.
If your reading is higher than 38 degrees, move your dial up to the
next coldest setting and repeat the steps every two hours until you
reach the correct temperature for your refrigerator.
5.
Once you have reached the correct refrigeration temperature for your
refrigerator, place the magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator
permanently and watch for changes.
Typically, your
refrigerator temperature will need to be adjusted with the seasons,
a higher setting in the summer and a lower setting in the winter.
By keep your refrigerator or freezer too cold, it unnecessarily wastes electricity. The recommended temperature is 37 to 40 degrees for the fresh food compartment of the refrigerator. The recommended temperature for the freezer compartment is 5 degrees. If you have a separate freezer for long-term food storage, it should kept at 0 to -5 degrees.

I know this isn't very helpful, but you already know it's time for a new fridge! The life expectancy of the average refridgerator is 15 - 20 years...the good news is in todays economy, retail stores are slashing prices to increase sales, so what you would have paid a year or two ago would have been more than what you'll pay today! Happy shopping!
We are not sure what precipitated the temperature swing up; however, within about an hour of emptying quite a lot of foodstuffs from top and bottom sections of the unit, I felt the cold air start to flow out of the rear vent. Within two hours, the upper section had dropped to about 50 degrees and by the next morning to 36. The freezer seemed to recoved on its own too, having risen to almost 8 degrees and then recovering to 0. Just patience and a smaller food payload?
