I just bought a Sylvania SMPK8099 and charged it for 3 hours and it still wont turn on

Try charging the player for four or more hours.

Check the fuse in the adapter cable .

Hold down the Pause/Play button until the volume pops up at the bottom.

If it won't turn on then CHARGE IT!!! That's one way.....???

who bought this Kodak camera had the same problem!!!! i bought it.. then couple of months past..and would not turn on! I tried everything!! with my phone\'s charger it finally charged ..i let it charged for 3 hours then it still wouldn\'t turn on! :(

You can try an overnight charge. If that fails, the usual remedy is to return the device for service under warranty. Failure to accept a charge suggests a bad battery. I find no DIY instructions identifying a change of its battery. As to the driver failure, this is likely a compatibility issue. You have not identified your operating system. The user manual may identify which OS the device is compatible with. Try installing the driver with the device disconnected, reboot, plug in the device, reboot again. I believe the device worked with Windows 7 or XP but am uncertain if it worked with other OS.

Your battery is dead. Leave it to charge for a minimum of 4 hours, then turn it back on.

The manual indicates that it should show charging as soon as connected, and takes three hours to charge.
I have found that on some devices, this does not happen, and it takes a few minutes for the device to get enough charge into the battery to start up. This especially from new, or if left for a long while.
Try giving it a long charge, six hours is recommended by some manufacturers, using the same type of battery.
leave your computer on, it won't hurt it, as the USB ports, only supply power when it's on.

If it does not work then, as you have only just bought it, take it back.
