Face-tracking prob with Quiclcam Pro5000

When I set the Webcam settings to follow me, the webcam tracks my face. But when I shutdown and restart the laptop the face-tracking has returned to off. I'm running XP Pro Logitech says this setting is stored in the registry and they won't supply this info. Have searched the registry but couldn't find any registry entry that could fix this problem. Does anyone have a fix.

Make sure you have installed the latest software from Logitech's website. Be sure to UNPLUG the cam when installing, and ONLY plug it in when it tells you to do so.

Also, what service (msn, yahoo) are you trying to use face tracking in? Keep in mind that MSN, Yahoo, etc have their own camera settings, which may over-ride any default settings.

Of you're on MSN, Logitech has a solution:

I just bought a new webcam, the iHome Mylife Web camera.. and it keeps auto focusing! How do I get it to just stay on one focus level?

Hi - Try this:
1) In the Crazy Talk Cam Suite that came with the camera, click the Settings button.
2) The Settings dialog box displays. Select the Avatar Live! tab, unselect Face tracking to trigger head movement. Click OK.
3) In the main Crazy Talk Cam Suite window, unselect Enable Facial Tracking.

I’ve dell inspiron N series 5010. My operating system is windows 7. My laptop has a built in camera. The problem is I was using MSN messenger and was showing my webcam I picked up my laptop while showing...

Many webcams have a feature that allows them to track a face. the reason they have this feature is so when a person is on a call and they want to move around some, the don't have to worry about moving the web cam. this feature will follow their face so they stay centered in the picture. I have used it in the past but found that it does not work all that well so I end up turning it off. Its very possible that if you have not moved that much or like you said picked up the laptop, you might not have realized it was even on. My software had it off by default but yours might have turned it on by default.
I think you are not experiencing any abnormal behaviour from you webcam software. if you are concerned about being spied upon then you can simply put a cover over the lens. I do this but I do it so I don't accidentally have my face on a webex without manually opening the cover.
At the end of the day I think its a good feature but it does not always work well depending on the brand of web cam.

Web cam says to close other video streaming application before it can proceed but there are no applications open

I have an answer! I've tried many times to fix this problem on my laptop, even talking to two dell reps in the process(which was worthless). Finally I found the problem(for me, at least)- my webcam's driver was not compatible. If you haven't tried this already, go to your Device Manager, click the plus sign next to Imaging Devices, and select Integrated Webcam. Right click that and select Update Driver Software. I downloaded the latest driver it found and restarted my computer, and miraculously my webcam central was back to normal. I hope this helps you too!

Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP

It could be one of three things:

Is it making the noise, but not turning, or no noise at all? If it's making noise, but not following, then the gears have stripped (a common problem if you have used that feature alot)

Also, are you using the current software from Logitech's site?

And finally... are you turning on the feature to follow you (i believe its a different setting than the face tracking on the MP). Just poke around the menus, and you're bound to find it. I know it's definitely NOT turned on by default.
