I installed all the software, and creative media explorer says my player is not connected, when clearly it is, and has been, in every USB available. THIS is why I hate technology and am going to go off and live in the woods and yell at rocks and squirells

Same problem: My Zen V Plus MP3 is not recognized by my computer. Using XP and software installed and works on other computers just not this one. "Your player is not connected" message appears. Any ideas? Is there something else that is unique to the computer: a setting, and installation neede? Thanks.Same problem: My Zen V Plus MP3 is not recognized by my computer. Same with mine. I went and downloaded "media monkey" - it's like windows media player or itunes etc. And I can sync with that, but nothing else. So I'd suggest giving that a try

You need to isolate the problem first before downloading and flashing the firmware of it. Try connecting the Creative into different USB ports of the computer, try different computer or try different USB cable first. Then if you get the same problem after trying those things, then you may refer to the link below and download the firmware:
insert zen v plus install cd exit out of autorun for cd go to control panel click on system click on the hardware tab click on device manager click on portable devices right click on your USB device with the yellow warning sign go to properties when it tells you that the drivers arent installed... go to the browse button and select your zen v plus install disk hit ok and it will find the drivers that way...
as for thedisplay... once you get the computer to recognize its there troubleshoot it.
I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x
Hi,
try aa different USB Port if your computer Has One.
Turn the power On The MPEG Player on and off when it,s Connected.
If this does,nt help.
Replace your USB lead, it is possibly broken internally, or player fault.
Mike @ Compurepair.
Try a different USB cord if you have one and plug it in to a desktop computer (not a laptop). Leave it plugged in for a while and the battery might be charged enough to display the screen (happened to me on my zen vision M and this fixed it)
·Make sure you have media player 11 ·If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this. ·Download recovery tool off creative's website.
here is a fix if your creative zen nano plus just hang on the creative logo when you turn your player on.
download, Creative ZEN Nano Plus firmware.
you can find it at the creative website, download section.
double click the file you just dl'ed, now make sure your
zen nano player is already connected to your pc when you run the file. it may take a bit of time before your pc can detect your zen nano be patient, a window prompt will soon appear asking if you want to update your firmware with the one youve just dl'ed.
now, dont worry if the firmware is the same as the one already
installed in your zen nano, just continue with the update.
you can also check the box in which there is the option of also formatting the drive. ( note: all files in your zen nano will be lost)
after the firmware is flashed you can now play and transfer files to your zen nano plus.
