Cannot delete images in the camera.

I am getting the message that my memory card is locked. But this is the same memory card I have used for several years with no previous problem deleting images.

I have an HP Photosmart 320 digital camera. The memory card is Lexar, 64 mb

Check the card and see that the little slide switch on the side is moved to the unlock or clear position. You try to delete images off another card to see if it is the camera that is defective. Is it still under warranty?

I. have canonelph 300 hs and i. can not reset all when i. try to do that i.get busy message

I must have posted a clarification instead of a solution therefore:

Check the memory card for a "Lock" switch. It may be locked. If you are viewing the memory card via the cable via computer, this can happen in thumbnail mode of the computer if you are not using the camera bundled software and you have many images on the card. Also make sure to set in your computer's folder settings "Do Not Cache Thumbnails" is enabled otherwise your computer will try to be saving a thumbnail database file on the memory card.If you have a card reader available to use, you can use that as a quick way to delete images from the memory card after transferring them.

Memory card is full and when I plug in the USB cord and turn on the camera I get a message that my device is not connected or is busy, or that it contains no pictures!!

Causes of memory card corruption
  • Turning off a camera before an image is completely written to the memory card.
  • Removing the memory card from a camera while an image is being written to the card.
  • Removing the card from a memory card reader while files are still being transferred to a computer.
  • Batteries conking out as files are being transfered directly from the camera to a computer. Note: always make sure you have fully charged batteries before transferring images.
  • Removing the card from a card reader while folders and files from the card are open on a computer.
  • Opening, deleting, renaming or moving files on the card while its contents are open on a computer.
  • Using a memory card which has not been formatted in the camera. Use the delete/erase function when needed, however a card should be regularly formatted.
  • Formatting a card in a computer instead of the camera.
  • Inserting a second memory card into a card reader before closing and removing the first when viewing images on the card from a computer.
  • Taking photos when camera batteries are nearly empty.
  • Taking photos too rapidly so the camera can not complete writing one image before starting the next.
  • Continually shooting and deleting, shooting and deleting images when the card is full.
  • Letting a memory card get too full before downloading the images to a computer or storage device. Cards that are too full may overwrite the card headers.
  • Using a memory card from one camera in a different camera without formatting it in the new camera first.

Mesage "unable to use card"

SD Memory Cards have a write-protect switch to prevent image
data from being deleted. By sliding the switch to the bottom of
the card, the data will be protected. images cannot be recorded
when the card is protected. If an attempt is made to record or
delete an image with the camera, the card-locked message will
appear on the monitor.

1 gb card not getting formated .cannot delete images - says card error

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.
The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card).

My samsung s630 says the memory is full. I cleared photos from the sd card and internal memory, but still can only take four pictures in the lowest quality and size setting.

Memory card might gone bad but can do this following troubleshooting step. Formatting a memory ** This is used for formatting the memory. If you run [Format] on the memory, all images, including the protected images, will be deleted. Be sure to download important images to your PC before formatting the memory. Sub menus
[No] : The memory will not be formatted. Press the menu button three times and the menu display will disappear.
[Yes] : A [Processing!] message appears and the memory will be formatted. If you run FORMAT in Play mode, a [No Image!] message will appear. 1d36119.png
Be sure to run [Format] on the following types of memory card.
- A new memory card, or an unformatted memory card
- A memory card that has a file this camera can't recognize or one that has been taken from another camera.
- Always format the memory card using this camera. If you insert a memory card that has been formatted using other cameras, memory card readers, or PCs, you will get a [Card Error!] message. ** There might be bad sectors on your memory card.

I downloaded some pictures to my school computer and now my camera won't take any pictures. Message is Memory card write protected.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

Canon A560 will not erase pictures

Two possible solutions.

1. Apple users have reported that the switch on the memory cards performs the file lock function in either extreme positions Lock/Unlock. In some cases they have achieved success in centering the Lock/Unlock switch allowing access to the read/write operation of the memory card

2. Connect to PC
Access drive via windows explorer
Right click on drive (MEMORY CARD)
Select properties
Confirm that RO (Read Only) is not selected.
Selected RO
Try reading card
Repeat properties un-select RO
Try deleting files

If not successful card is likely defective

Hope this helps?
