Question about Panasonic PV-GS65 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
My panasonic PV-GS65 is great, but recently I havn't been able to download my tapes to my PC. When I connect the firewire, I get no response from my computer. The weird thing is that I've hooked up another miniDV camcorder and it works fine on my computer, so I think its a hardware issue...but any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks -Jules
Take a magnifying glass to the firewire port on the camera. Check to see if it looks damaged at all. I've used firewire with my students for many years and this has happened to me on more than one occasion. The student is not as careful as he could be when plugging in the cable. The inside of the firewire cable becomes damaged. This is a cheap fix. Buy a new cable. However, when the port is damaged, it is an expensive fix. Since the computer recognizes another camcorder it may not be the computer. And if you are using the same cable, then it will probably be a hardware issue with the camera. Look at the port and let me know if anything looks out if place.
