Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Will not charge or activate the screen. (c340 Street Pilot)

I measured 12vdc at the end of the cable that plugs into the car, but no voltage across the wiper contacts to the mounting unit. Is there some electronics in there? I measured continuity across the female connection to the wiper contacts, but no continuity in either the ground connection or the center connection. I tried to unscrew the two tiny screws to take a look, but can't get it off. The unit battery is probably dead because I can't get any voltage to it. If I knew the polarity, I could probably jumper it, unless. maybe there is some voltage divider in there? Can I down load a schematic?

It appears that the mounting unit is defective?

It sounds to me that the unit is defective as well. no voltage at the battery does mean its dead but not defective. I would call in on the warranty.

Pontiac G6 2010 replaced alternator and battery battery light is still on ?

Check voltage on battery. Measure voltage across pos and neg terminals. Should read about 13-15 vdc when charging. should read 12vdc when car is off. anything lower than 12vdc means battery has a short inside of it and needs replaced.

If alternator is working and wired correctly, and charging the battery see how long battery holds a charge. turn on the headlights and see if they go dim after awhile . If so, replace battery.

Could also be a problem somewhere behind the dashboard.

Garmin Street pilot C340 has always worked. This morning it did not turn on. I relpaced the fuse in cord. Any other ideas?

Try charging it from the WALL charger. The battery inside the unit may not be too great. Try it - over night from the WALL charge -not the PC charger. 8de415c.jpg

Garmin street pilot c340 won't recharge. Loses charge while operating in the car and is plugged into the cigar lighter. Socket in car works as I use it to run other items like ipod etc. Have there been any...

Try to charge the GPS by using the USB cable and connecting to your computer. Of course the computer must be on. If it charges connected to the computer you can most likely assume that the 12 Volt car charging system is defective. Please let us know if this resolves your situation.

I had the same problem. Found out that the fuse had blown in the power cord. I bought a new fuse from radio shack and have not had the low battery since.

You have to pry off the silver-colored faceplate from the unit and you will find a reset button on the right side of the screen. Push this and everything will back to normal.

Garmin street pilot c340 battery appeared low, used USB cable to hook up pilot with my computer but device doesn't appear to turn on, computer cannot locate device on Drivers, can I rechare steet pilot...

I followed the instructions of the Online manual for the Garmin Street Pilot c-340, I removed the faceplate of the Street Pilot and then using my thumb pressed down on the reset button. I then pressed the power on button on the side of the device- the screen lit up, I then plugged one end of the USB cable into my computer and the other end into the device. The information on the screen of the device indicated the Lithium Battery was charging properly.

Pin problem

This is ODD, because I don't believe the C240 has a PIN lock.

However, have you tried a hardware RESET? The button is hidden behind the front panel, which snaps off by a fingernail slot located directly under the GARMIN logo on the front panel.

* Use caution removing and reinstalling the front panel... it's somewhat fragile... wiggle it a little to get it off.

Press where it says "Press to Reset", hold for a second or two. Charge the unit with the car cord or USB cable, then try to turn it on again.

Once you can get the unit to (hopefully) turn ON, you should run all updates (there may be several!) using Garmin's Webupdater. (Connect to computer with USB cable first.)

Hope this helps!!

Charging unit with AC adapter

I have a 100v A/C power / charger unit for my garmin C340 GPS that I use to charge my Garmin's battery every day. I can use thj adapter to run the GPS, or just turn it off and let it charge the GPS. But it connects dirctly to the Garmin GPS unit, not to the cradle like the Cigarrette lighter unit does. .
