Sounds like you have an unbalanced load. I know this sounds too easy but lots of times this is the issue. If it doesn't help then you could have a bearing issue where the belt goes around a pully under the tub itself. If so you will have to replace the pully itself and perhaps the belt if it's gotten worn too much.
it sounds like its bad...they usually will drag slightly when you push start. in other words, you can hear a delay in it starting...almost a hum, but not always...if its smelling like burnt wiring..it usually cuts off and will not come back on until it cools down..
Are you sure its the motor thats making noise?? if a roller goes bad..it will go thump, thump, thump and they make alot of noise too...does it stop during the cycle? if you have more question, let me know and hope this helps
Need more information to make an accurate diagnosis, try removing the front panel (two screws at bottom) and visually check first the belt (all the way around) and then the springs that hold the tub suspended.
I would bet on the belt.
from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud
thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become
unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start
it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
