Question about Pentair Pool Products Power Max Commercial Pool Heater 500K BTU LP Copper

Hi, the main water jet adjuster keeps shooting up into the air when i turn the pump on. I had accidently turned the pump on when the water level wasnt high enough but only for a few seconds . Could there be trapped air or something. STYLUS spa power 500. Thanks

How to adjust carb settings

Hi Charlie.<br />Operations to be performed depends on how much tuning is needed.<br />Carb setting regulates the ratio between air and fuel in the mixture aspired into the cylinders.Optimal air/fuel ratio is usually around 14(air) to 1(fuel). I illustrated the complete job with cleanup and jet replacement and adjustment. In some situation you do not need to perform complete tuning, which involves taking apart the carburetor. In that case perform basic regulation setup using the two adjustment screws at one side of the carb. Adjustment simple procedure starts from part 2/Adjustment. A good approach is first doing adjustment using idle and thickener screws. Then do the whole tune up if the simple adjustment does not work.<br />The complete tuning is based on carburettor cleanup, regulation of main jet and idle jet and needle setup.<br /><br />Part 1 : Complete tuning and cleanup:<br />1. Take apart the carburettor,<br />2. Undo the float chamber(6 in diag) held by screws (26 in diag).<br />3. Clean bowl with with carb cleaner (put a lot of it in the bow, wait a bit and dispose it-finish the job with a cloth if needed) . Clean floats (nr.4) and other parts using carb cleaner and cloth.<br />4. Use a flat screwdriver to remove the main jet screw (placed in the chamber, held by big golden screw, goes between the floats). Spray the main jet. You must be able to see through it.<br />5. Use the carb cleaner to clean the accelerating pump and all the other parts inside the part. Needle and small parts must be cleaned. Clean the idle jet, which is the smaller golden screws. If you have a compressor blow into the jets (you can blow them even without compressor, but follow H&S).<br />6. If possible replace main and idle jets. Sometimes you may like to replace the jet with a bigger one to get a richer mixture.<br />7. Adjust the needle if needed. A lower needle settings means a richer mixture.<br />8. Remove idle adjustment screw (7) and main adjustment screw(31), clean them screw them back in without tightening and perform part 2. Leave the screws about one and half turn from all way in.<br /><br />Part 2: Tuning and minor cleanup - Here you mainly operate on idle and air (thickener) adjustment screws (8 and 12 in diag)- Start from here, if this does not work, do part one:<br /><br />1) If the engine runs start from idle adjustment: screw or unscrew the idle regulator to adjust the idle speed, the screw is placed to one side of the carburetor and has a spring (part 12).<br />Keep idle least slightly higher than the minimum needed. Example, if the engine stays on slightly below 1000 rpm, set idle to a bit higher with engine revving above 1000 rpm.<br /><br />2) The thickener, placed near that of the minimum screw regulates the air flow. Tighten the screw and unscrew 2 turns from all the way in. Do regulation from this position. <br /><br />Here carburetor diagram and part list. The diagram is taken from service manual. Each bathtub has at least one air control on the tub that when opened lets air into the jets that produce the bubbles.
If you are experiencing too much pressure out of each jet, some of the jets if they are adjustable you can turn them down by rotating them left or right.
The other issue may be the water depth in the tub before you are turning it on. Make sure the water level is at least two inches or more above the highest jet.

One of the "Air Volume Control" valves shoots

you can change out the complete air control valve. One thing i would have you do before changing that out is to make sure all of the jet faces are turned on. to do this turn the face of the jet clockwise. this will let the maximum amount of water come out of each jet face.
Sometimes if there are adjustable jets in the tub and they all get shut off, it will force the water that should be coming out of the jet faces back through the system and out the air control knob if it is open.
Just to check. that may not be the case....but...that would be cool if it were.

I have a primary jet and secondary jet in the carburator of the 500 gl silverwing . and the jets I have is 75 and 125 which goes where . and what should be the setting on the air jet ?

The secondary main jet (125) goes into the jet needle holder in the center of the carb (needle). The primary main jet (75) is between the secondary main jet and the pilot screw (this one is slightly off center) . The start setting for your air screw should be 1 3/4 turns. Warm up your engine and drive for ten minutes. Adjust your idle speed to 1100 + or - 100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in or out to get highest idle speed. Readjust idle to 1100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in till idle speed drops 100 rpm. If pilot screw seats go to next step. Adjust the pilot screw out 1 full turn from 100 rpm drop point. Now reset Idle to 1100 rpm. That is how Honda says to set your air screw. Standard setting is probably sea level and going through the procedure will set you up for the altitude where you ride. Do the adjustment during good weather at the altitude you plan to do the most riding.

Fill tub, press button, hear motor but no bubbles,etc coming from jets

Are the jets open? The center of the jets turn to adjust the pressure of the jets. If this is not the problem, there may be a problem with the impeller in the pump assembly. If you here the pump turning and not buzzing, it could be an air bubble in the suction tube. This tube is the one coming from the front of the pump, if the pump is higher than the tube coming from the tub, or if there is a high spot in the tube, an air bubble is a real possibility. If the tube is level with the pump, there should be no problem with air bubbles and the problem lies in the top part of this paragraph.

Dies out after holing throttle open after a short while

All two stroke engines are sensitive to fuel. Now that many areas have mandated the use of added ethanol, the small engines are affected more than ever. Use fresh fuel, that is mixed and stored no longer than 6 weeks. The main reason for this is because ethanol will hold water whereas gasoline will not. Because ethanol will hold water, humidity and condensation are more critical to be careful about than ever. Mix your fuel in small batches and keep your can capped tightly and out of the sun. Now about the carb. Most two cycle engines have carb's that have two jets. The jet that is closest to the cylinder is the low speed or main jet. The other jet is the high speed jet. Start the engine and allow it to run for a minute to warm up. Adjust the low speed jet rich enough by turning it counter clock wise to allow for a good transition from idle to high speed without any bog. Next, adjust the high jet for maximum rpm plus 1/4 turn counter clock wise to keep enough fuel available for air temp and load changes. Adjust the high side with the cutting head in place. Clean out the air cleaner and the muffler screen every couple of months and you should not have any more problems.

Our A O Smith pump/motor gets airbound everyday

Well somehow air is obviously getting into the pump line. Easiest fix is to move the pump below the water level of the tub and then gravity will keep water in there. If you do have the pump below the water level, then make sure you don't have jets shooting a bunch of air directly at the intake in the tub. If that's not the case and it is below water level, then make sure you don't have a leak in the line somewhere.

Jacuzzi jet pump doesn't produce much bubbles

you need to turn the air on should be some sort of cap or screw in type thing to let the air in open it
