My handset does not connect to the base station. It flashes momentarily, but does not find the base. The base station has a humming noise when the phone line is disconnected and the talk button is depressed. Hum is also present when the phone line is reconnected. The problem was resolved by replacing the 9VDC power supply. The hum disappeared and the handset immediately connected to the base.

It sounds as if the channel that the phone and base has selected during that session is bad, or being used by another system in the area. When that happens, try selecting another channel. You should be able to do this by depressing a button on the handset. Normally labeled "Channel". Please post further questions or comments. Please rate this solution through fix-it. Thank you

NO DISPLAY AND CANNOT MAKE A CALL

Hi, if you put it on the base and after one or two hours there's no charging indication on screen, maybe the battery is faulty or in the worst of cases the handset or base are faulty (electrical power blowout, lighting, etc.).

Hi I have a vtech Hannah Montana Cordless phone and it won't ring. It has a slash through the ringer bell on the screen. I've tried the ringer settings taking the battery out and the tone and...

These can be the only things that are causing your problems:

Ringer mute
You can mute the ringer temporarily when the telephone is ringing.
Press OFF/CLEAR or MUTE to temporarily silence the ringer. The next call will ring normally.

Ringer volume
You can change the handset ringer volume to a comfortable level. The ringer can also be turned off so the telephone does not ring when there are incoming calls.
To adjust the ringer volume:
Press MENU/SELECT to display the menu when the handset is not in use.
Press or to select >RINGER VOLUME, then press MENU/SELECT.
Press or to adjust the volume. A sample of each volume level will be played as you adjust it.
Press MENU/SELECT to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Make sure the ringer is on (page 8).
Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter are plugged in properly (page 2).
The handset may be too far from the telephone base. Move it closer to the telephone base.
There may be too many extension phones on the telephone line to allow all of them to ring simultaneously. Try unplugging some of them.
If the other telephones in your home are having the same problem, the problem is in the wiring or local service. Contact the local telephone company (charges may apply).
Other electronic products can cause interference to your cordless telephone. Try installing your telephone as far away as possible from the following electronic devices: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, pager towers, cellular telephones, digital telephones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, VCRs, personal computers, kitchen appliances, and other cordless telephones.
Test a working telephone at the telephone wall jack. If another telephone has the same problem, the problem is in the telephone wall jack. Contact your local telephone company (charges may apply).
The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning. Try installing a new telephone line cord.
Wait for the handset to synchronize with the telephone base. Allow up to one minute for this to take place.

Sounds like you need to re-register the 2 handsets that are not working properly. Sometimes the handsets must first be de-registered then re-registered to the base unit. Send a comment with the model number of the base unit and handsets if they are not original handsets and I will give specific information for your phone. I have included a link where you can download the manual for your Uniden cordless phone by model number.

Can't register Motorola handset.

Hi,

There is a very little that we can proceed to here, as these phones are known for the problem that you are facing & most of the customers that I have myself seen ... finally get rid of them buying new ones,

Let’s try resolving it though;

1.) Open battery compartment, remove battery. Also remove belt clip on back of phone. You might have to pry it a little.
2.) Pop off the access panel on upper back of phone. This panel merely hides two screws.
3.) Unscrew all visible screws, Separate front and back of phone. You might have to wiggle the pieces relative to each other. The rubber strips on the sides are held in place with dovetail grooves.
4.) The phone should come apart in three sections.
5.) At this point, get some cotton swabs and alcohol. Dip a swab in the alcohol and rub down the contacts on the keypad and little black pads underneath each button on the rubber membrane.
6.) Let it dry and re-assemble. Your phone should now work properly.

Please let us know if that was helpful enough.

Good Luck & Thanks,

Shiv.

Lots of static heard during use of this phone.

Time for a new phone. Most likely there are some bad solder connections and they could be anywhere. A 2 year old battery should not cause such severe problems so I'd spend the money on a new phone before a new battery.
