Today I vacuumed, and noticed that the bag needed to be changed, so I changed the bag and closed the door. Turned it on and it won't run! The headlight turns on but the motor doesn't. I readjusted the bag but it didn't fix the problem. There was no blockage or over heating. Looked in the manual and it says nothing about this problem, also searched all over the net but can't find an answer. Please help!
The Mistral range is the same as the new S7 that's just hit Europe. Have you made sure that when you turn on the vac on the handle that you've switched the carpet mode on? There's a separate button just under the power on button that activates the Carpet setting. Other than that check the sole plate where the roller brush to check for a blockage.
How strange! Make sure all the filters are in correctly seated - sometimes Miele have a knack of making machines that have a failsafe - if the filters aren't in properly - the machine won't start up. Failing that, it may well have to be returned and with such a vacuum like this thats so brand new you will be in your rights to return it.

Thank you, but yes, the carpet mode is on and there is no blockage at the roller brush. It's not that the brush won't turn, it's that the vacuum won't turn on at all...other than the headlight...the motor is not turning on. It's a new unit and this is the first time I changed the bag. It worked fine before I turned it off to change the bag but once I changed the bag and closed it up and switched the power button back on...nothing but a headlight came on!
