Hi,
I recently installed the MP360 English driver for my Windows XP Professional SP2 found at http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0019010.asp?model=
for my printer. I run the setup, it extracts and then starts automatically. Everything seems to run fine, it finishes installing and then it exits. But then, there is no sign of anything being installed. The printer doesn't show up under "Printers and Faxes" in Control Panel and the Scanner doesn't show up in "Scanners and Cameras" either. If I install the MP Toolbox from the Canon website, I get the message "A supported scanner not installed". I also tried to extract the CAB files that come in the driver package and manually install the driver with Windows's Add Printer Wizard, but it still does not work.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Just as a try- set up a new printer like this
Start/printers and faxes/install new printer
When you get insert CD or select from list
Take Select from list. select then Canon in the makes list and then the model from the model list.
Click install
See what you get.
It is possible you will get the printer only and no scanner - I do'nt know,
But try it.

Try to update your drivers from your laptop vendor website. You can use also some drivers updating software like this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?miendd4mj4f - Driver Genius Professional 9.0.0.180.rar
Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.
The USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 is a big issue regarding technology, the 1.1 has maximum speed of 12 megabits where as 2.0 has upto 480 Mbps. And all USB 2.0 devices are compatible with 1.1. Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional are both fully USB 2.0-compliant with the correct drivers.
So in your case it must work properly. But if the USB 2.0 from microsoft got currepted or badly updated by some thirdparty USB 2.0 driver then it will not work. I have been faced this problem. After doing some stuff I found that if I uninstall the USB drivers and reinstall it from microsoft driver then it works.
So, just go to the Device manager and un-install the USB drivers, then reboot the system to parmanently delete the removed driver. Then install the driver from Windows XP CD.
