If you keep slapping the side of the TV you will dislodge pixels so that your picture will have "holes" in it when you get it repaired. (This is a simplified answer, but I am not kidding) It needs to go in for repair, most likely, but I would check all connections first. You may have a bad monster cord. A good one costs about $100. Stop slapping you TV! Are you on cable? dish? check everything. Do other TVs in your home work okay?

If you received a remanufactured board it might be defective,Or did you forget to hook back up the speakers? Sounds dumb but happens alot. Speaker wires get in the way,we disconnect them to look at a board or replace one.Often gets over looked. But I have received several defective boards.Hope this helps. Toddthetvmd
Ur backlight video inverter board is dead.Buy parts like capacitors for replacement with soldering or buy the whole board.Tries these websites.Shopjimmy.com,Partstore.com or Ebay.com.
Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
