Need to measure PTC resistance

I have unplugged the washing machine. The information I have found to fix my "not draining or spinning" problem (E47) say to remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. My question is... must I remove the door look assembly to do this? Or, can I just use an ohm meter without removing the assembly? This thing is a bear to get in to!

No need to remove the door if you can remove the inner panel to have access to guts for measurement.

SOURCE: defroster

All you have to do now is wait a few days to see if it frosts back up. If not you're home free. Far as the thermostat, if you checked it when it was over its cut out temp it would show "open" and would seem to be defective. Unless it has an internal factory test resistor in order to properly test a defrost thermostat it should be below approx 10 degrees for at least 20 mins

What is error code e47?

Hey Ervin, thanks for your inquiry!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire washer is displaying an error code of "E47". An "E47" error code means that the board thinks the door circuit is open in spin. This could be potential issue with the door lock or main control board. A reset could help correct this issue and to perform a reset you would need to disconnect power from it for at least ten minutes. We hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

What corrective action for e47 code?

Hello. I need the model number to help you accurately but I'll assume you have a Frigidaire washer. If so, then the E47 code is telling you that the main board thinks the door is open on spin. Go to this web address and it will tell you how to check the electric door lock mech. http://forum.partsdr.com/showthread.php?1-Frigidaire-Washer-E47-Error-Code. If you *don't* have a Frigidaire unit, please post a comment with the brand/model number so I can give you exact information. Thanks!

LTF2940ES3--Washer drains, but will not do a final spin.

Hi. You have done a great job diagnosing your unit. This unit is designed to not allow a full scaled spin out, if there are issues with the on-board door lock mechanism. This is standard safety equipment for most units. Once this damaged door lock mechanism is replaced, the washer will operate properly. The full scaled spin out will return.

I believe E47 is a door lock code.
You probably just need to replace the door latch.
Common problem with those units.
