In the last day or so I've noticed that the built-in display on my Toshiba Tecra M4 tablet laptop is acting strangely: areas that should be a certain shade of (near-)black or deep blue appear as red... and it doesn't appear to be uniform everywhere in the display. Note that this problem doesn't occur with the external monitor I have hooked up via the video port, so the video card is probably fine.
I've seen a few mentions of this problem on the web, with some people claiming that it's a screen connection/continuity problem, and others believe it's a motherboard issue. Anything I should try before calling up Toshiba for a repair?
There's not a reddish cast, so much as selected colors (near-black, a certain shade of blue)that appear as red. Or more specifically, closely-spaced red lines. This leads me to believe that it's an issue with the electrical connections on the monitor.
Perhaps Toshiba didn't do a good enough job with the rotating connection that brings the screen into tablet mode...There's not a reddish cast, so much as selected colors (near-black, a certain shade of blue)that appear as red. It would be oen of three things... in order of cost;
1. LCD Invertor has gone bad
2. SCREEN has gone bad
3. Motherboard has gone bad
In either of the three it would most likely take a toshiba tech to pinpoint exactly the problem and do the repair. Although if you are handy enough you can get the parts and repair it yourself.
Most possible one of your Toshiba Tecra m4 driver is not working properly, but don't worry give me a call at +1 (833) 493-0111 so that i can suggest you the right way to fix it!
The XP SP2 driver should work.
