Our printer throws up the error message "Media Jam" when there is no media jam at all. In addition the printer will not feed paper when we try to print a document. Has anyone any ideas please?
Same problem with the Media Jam error, and the suggestion by the Guest on 10/11 seems to work OK. Fill the paper to capacity and it seems to be printing fine.
I had this same problem - you could hear the printer "trying" to pick the paper up. After a few cycles it would stop and pop up the media jam error. I noticed this would never happen when the try was half to completely full - only when the stack was low. I pulled put the paper, inserted a feather duster, applied some elbow grease (or wrist in this case) - problem solved.
That diagnosis is correct. I have seen it several time. It is not a simple or inexpensive jpb either!
This is caused by the solenoid that is activated when picking up the paper. The solenoid is activated and the device goes through the motions of picking up the paper. It fails to pick up the paper or fully feed it past the leading edge sensor resulting in a jam error. You should replace the pick up solenoid assy and also the pick up roller and friction pads.
