Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS25 Built-in Dishwasher
The child lock light on our KUDS25SHBL0 dishwasher (S/N FJ0702990) began flashing continuously without our setting the child lock. We tried holding the Energy Saver Dry button down for more than 4 seconds to see if it would stop, but it continued flashing. I removed power for a few seconds, but after connecting the power again the lock light still flashes. The dishwasher will not start. According to the Technical Service Data Sheet for this dishwasher this symptom appears to mean that one or more of the buttons on the console is in a "stuck" state. Do you agree that this is most likely the problem, and is there a diagnostic test I can do to verify that before I order parts. (I do my own repairs.) If it is a stuck button, do I need to replace the console assembly, which in a whirlpool parts list they sent me is shown as P/N 9744112, or the electronic control, P/N 9744031, or both? Also, where can I purchase these parts at a reasonable price? Thank you for any help you can offer me.
Allaroni No doubt the problem with your dish washer is bad key pad due to stuck button(s). The user interface you found in the technical data does not exist and what Whirlpool meant under this name only Whirlpool knows. They do not sell the key pad separate and that?s why you have to buy the complete console. Wherever you found the new part if it cost more then $150, let me know and I can get a better deal for you. Gendos post back....

I just looked at the Technical Service Data Sheet again, and found a third possible part that may be the one at fault - the "User Interface" module, P/N 9743995. I am guessing that this is the module that contains the actually switches and lights, but since there is no picture, I can't be sure.
Thanks, Gendos. I didn't see your comment until now, long after I fixed the dishwasher. You are right - I did have to purchase the entire console assembly due to the bad keypad. I don't recall what I paid, but I think it was about $150.
