Hey All - any help with this issue is appreciated. I've got 2 folders on my ext. HD currently, one is 89gb & the other is 32gb -- however, I can't back anything else up to this drive as it's telling me the disk is full. Does not compute. Thanks in advance for any advice. I ran disk repair on it for the halibut, but no issues reported back.
In a Mac OS, connect drive, power it on, and try to empty trash (-;

If you are using windows XP then when you open the hard drive folder, select "folder options" from the "tools" drop down menu. Then select the "view" tab, fairly close to the top of the list that appears is the show/do not show hidden files and folders option, ensure "show hidden files and folders" is selected. Then check the hard drive again and see if anything has appeared. Check that there is not a drive partition that you didn't know was there - it will come up under "my computer" as a separate drive letter that you don't relate to any of your other drives. Check the hidden files routine for the "my computer" folder too. If you have nothing that was hidden large enough to make the difference, then the most likely problem is a minor corruption of the file allocation system, sometimes happens when a tiny surface fault in the disk which would otherwise be no problem happens to land exactly where some important data is located. The cure for this would hopefully be to save anything you want to keep from the drive and reformat it. (right mouse click on the drive, select "properties" and follow the instructions for whichever File allocation table system you want to use. If you are not using windows XP, the comments are almost certainly valid, there may be minor differences in the process - ask if you need more help with anything. Hope this helps :)
