Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Exilm ex-s500 hi, my camera will not save images to my SD card, i have tried formatting card but still no use. I want to be able to transfer a couple of images from my harddrive memory to card but when i press copy, it says, this function cannot be used. Could this be a memory card problem or my camera? Many thanks.

How ever you can transfer to the card via a card reader in the computer- but as stated- the camera will not display them

  • Anonymous Jun 27, 2007

    This is a different problem.
So - you are sure you have images on the card and they are displayed in the camera Yes?
You then said you put the card in the reader and see nothing.
    Explain further
    Card into reader.
What do you get in my computer?
Does the card reader display as another drive - which it should Yes/No
If no then how is the card reader fixed to computer - built in or USB?
If the reader shows and you click on it what do you get -should be a folder with DCIS or similar title.
    Is there a folder Yes/No
    Are there image icons there?
    Come back with more info.

My samsung S500 has suddenly stopped recognising the sd card

Try formatting the sd card IN the camera. Never format an SD card while it is in the computer.

I transferred my data from the micro sd card to my pc & formatted the micro sd card.but after re-transferring the data, mainly images, it is not being displayed.it seems the card is hang up.

Hi,

Where do you use your SD card? If you are using it for a digital camera, you should format it using your camera. Don't format it using your computer.

When i transfer pohtos to computer no problem but when i transfer from computer to sd card camera wont read images

Hi jhrobertszxy,

In this case you need to make sure that the photos are copied in the same directory from which you transfer photos to your computer.

Also it could be the case in some cameras that when you rename the files in a specific format , only then the camera would read it , or discard it as just another image file which does not belong to the camera.

Try renaming the file in a format that your camera saves the files , usually.

Hope this helps..:) Let me know in case you have any queries.

There should be an internal transfer from memory to SD card on most camera but not all look under the main menu for the memory card where it tells you to format card and create folders it there should be a COPY option.

My camera says the card is locked. it won't let me take pictures. its a casio exilm model number ex-z70

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Turn the camera on and activate the menu. Look for a menu option similar to "Image Storage" and either choose the card or auto. Save your choice and exit the menu. You will most likely have to format the card. Again, activate the menu and navigate to the FORMAT command and format the card. The camera must format the card, not a computer. Now when you take photos, they will be saved to the card.

Kodak M883 camera and sdCard

Hey jennyhellrun,
I would not format your memory card if you want to save your images. One thing you could try is instead of transferring the images to your computer with your camera you could try using a memory card reader that connects to a USB port. If this doesn't work you could try going to the my computer menu while either the camera or the card reader is connected to your computer and right clicking on the icon for the camera or the reader and choose open. This should open all the files on the memory card and you could try copy and pasting all the files into a folder on your desktop. After you have successfully transferred your images to your computer then I would definitely format your memory card in your camera. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Check the card to make sure it isn't "locked". SD cards have a tiny switch on their side which write protects them. If the card is "locked", then the camera can't write to it. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Secure_Digital_Kingston_512MB.jpg for a picture of the locking mechanism. If this is not the problem, you can try reformatting the card. Although you can format it in your computer, it is much better to format it in the camera itself, since they are often finicky about the formatting details.
