Install Cartridge Message

We installed a new cartridge in our fax machine, closed the cover, pressed 1 (new cartridge). "Install Cartridge" message appears across the screen. We repeated the steps several times; cleaned the carrier; and, even unplugged the fax machine for several minutes only to have the save "Install Cartridge" appear. The fax machine is not even a year old yet. Has anyone else had similar problems? What can we do to correct the problem.

Memory info retrieving from lexmark x5630 fax machine

Usually, faxes are temporarily sent to the printer's memory when one of the cartridges' ink level is not substantial for printing at the instance of receiving the fax. When this happens, try to replace the cartridge(s), *without navigating away from the message "fax sent to memory", by opening the printer cover and replacing the low-ink or empty cartridge(s). After the new cartridge is installed, close the printer cover and press the OK button. Your printer should then print the fax stored in the memory.
*Make sure not to navigate away from the "fax sent to memory" message, otherwise, data will be lost.

I have a Brother fax and copy machine and have just replaced toner with a brother TN 350 cartridge and still getting message that toner is low

You didn't include the model, but here are instructions for the Fax-2820; it should work for any of the models that use the TN-350 toner:
  1. With the power on, open the front cover.
  2. Press the Options key. The display will read "Change Drum?"
  3. Press Start.
  4. Press 1 0.
  5. The display reads "Accepted" for about 2 seconds, then change to "Cover Open."
  6. Close cover. The "Replace toner" message should be cleared.
Normally, inserting a new cartridge (with the power on) will reset the toner counter, and you won't have to do any of this.
