Remote/tv buttons not working & start-up menu flashing

The remote on my Sony WEGA KV-27FS200 stopped working. Tried new batteries. Have video/audio from my cable box but when trying to change volume via the TV's front panel buttons, the start-up screen came on asking something like CH+ to input channels and CH- to exit. Can't get rid of it and it continues to intermittently flash on screen. Also tried the SONY power reset-unplug for 60+ seconds. have not tried resetting the remote (pull batteries & push all buttons twice). TV purchased in the US.

This is caused by radio frequency and what i mean by that isyour tv unit is gettng confused with the crystals that control the connection between the tv and remote.The solution to this is to go to wal mart and buy a new universal remote and in the package should be an instruction manual to set the remote to the tv , First find your tv name in the pamplet,second there will show a code of the remote type it in and enjoy.

Menu Screen pops up, try to exit and goes to video 1
This could be a stuck button on the front control panel or a bad solder connection on one of the switches on the front control panel.

Closed captioning used to work. Disconnected TV to do some remodeling, now it doesn't show caption info. Tried selecting different menu options, i.e. CC1, CC2, etc. No luck. My TV is a Sony Wega...
You need to use a remote control to fix this one. There are options, and some say different things. but there is always a seperate button for Closed Captioning on TV's.

Dear sammy5,
Stop by any TV repair shop in your area, and ask to borrow a used original Sony remote, they may require a small deposit; access the menu, perform your set up, then return it. Or you could buy a universal Sony remote from Walmart that should work just fine, for about. $7.00.

This is due to switches malfuction due to corrosion in switch and dust accumulated in the switch. Since you rarely used switch now after failure of remote of remote control you tried to operate the switch. Another thing you said did"t get picture, maybe memory problem is there. This can be sorted out by the technician only.

Sony 36' TV Volume Goes up on own/Stuck on Video 2
There's a setting in the menu. I think it's called "smart audio". It's supposed to adjust the volume automatically for commercials. But I don't think it works that well. Give that a try.
