Lots of static heard during use of this phone.

My phone is less than 2 years old. Am hearing lots of static over the handset. Lots of background hum heard during answered calls. Can basically only receive calls. Cannot place a call as there is a burst of static when the phone attempts to dial the phone number. The owners manual is no help. Checked all connections and they appear OK. Battery appears to be fully charged.

    XDECT8055 one handset has stopped making and receiving calls. Have set the phone. The phone is fully charged.

Time for a new phone. Most likely there are some bad solder connections and they could be anywhere. A 2 year old battery should not cause such severe problems so I'd spend the money on a new phone before a new battery.

So much static I can not hear properly
The line that stays lit for line 2 is just the way it is.. not a problem. If you only have one phone line and a two line phone you will always have the one (non working line 2 ) lit.
Have you replaced the cord to the handset? Many times it is a bad cord that causes static.

Lots of static & noise during calls
First, do you have any other phones? Have you eliminated the phone line itself as the problem?

If there are sound problems in multiple cordless phones and the problem is not in the wiring or the line, than the base unit is transmitting a poor quality signal. Try tapping the base unit to see if the problem changes any... light taps up to a typical knocking on a door strength taps are all that should be necessary.

Background static
1. How old are you phone lines in the house?  Check the "main" terminal connections.  Clean and reconnect.  (Make note how the wires are connected).

2. The power transformers for the phones maybe you trouble also. Unplug all except the main unit.   Check each transfer one at a time. Do you have static?  One or more may be your problem.  Replace the bad ones if needed.

I have the Vector Power ON Board Bright Bar, model WLB26P. It does not hold a charge and produces virtually no illumination. This is an old unit that has been unused for several years.
