I was able to reset my GTE Cidco SA-60A-20 caller ID unit with the following procedure:
1. Remove the battery. 2. Wait several minutes after the display fades away. 3. While holding down the "Delete" key, reinsert the battery. 4. Release the "Delete" key. 5. The unit will come up showing a boot process and end with a screen allowing you to choose the English or Spanish language.
Not sure if this is the correct model - if not, you might find it by searching on this website:

When a call is received it will automatically set the time and date. To change the display contrast hold down the 'delete' button while toggling one of the other buttons. Hold the delete button down until the 'select, mem, mode' is displayed and choose between '25 name & number' or '64 numbers' . Make sure the batteries are good and the batt indicator in top left corner of display is off. I think that is all the features this early model unit was capable of.
