You can charge the MP3 player with the supplied USB cable. Connect the USB cable to the MP3 player and then plug it into the USB port on your computer.

Well, it all depends on the voltage of the charger. If your charger was to high of a voltage, it could have caused a surge and blown out the curcuit.

I have an MP-cs187 how do I charge it?

I beleive this model of MP3 player are not rechargeable as you require the use of an external battery for it. It takes a AA battery.
You may use AA rechargeable battery but you will require a charger for these.

it doesnt matter if the mp3 is on or off if its off the mp3 turns on when you connect it to the computer or the wall charger then starts to charge if its on it just starts to charge

you should be able to see the little battery charging
