I cannot print any black on my printer.
I've changed the cartridges even though they still had ink.
I can print if there are just colors in the file but they are washed out too.
You need a new printhead. Call Kodak and they will send you one.

The first thing you should try is running a printhead cleaning using the kodak software or from the local user interface on the printer. from the printer press the [menu] button. press the down arrow untill Clean Printhead is highlighted. press the [OK] button. Select "Deap Clean" and press [OK]. If this does not work you can mannually clean it. You can search online for how to clean inkjet printheads. I use distilled or de-ionized water and a LINT-FREE cloth. Dont use paper towls or anthing that could leave lint behind and clogg the nozzels. when you wipe the printhead make sure you only wipe in the direction of the nozzels, with the grain. Do not use a circular motion. You want to wipe from the front to the back or back to front of the printhead. Not left to right. I hear windex works as well but i have never tried it. Do some research online and use you best judgment. If none of this works you may have to contact kodak and see about getting a new printhead, they dont sell them sepeartly.

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you
changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you
put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state
"COLOR INK
EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the
new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.
So to fix
your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install
the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank
and install it.
If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.

I called Kodak and they are sending me a new printer head at no charge! Can't get any better then that. Man I talked to was very nice, knowledgeable and polite.

there is also a orange protective cap.
Issue that its not printing black and deep clean and removing the printhead and reinstalling the printhead (reseating printhead) is already done and still no black when printing. The printhead should be replace. For futher assistance call 1 800 421 6699 Kodak AiO printer support line

Been printing a few things, ran out of black. replaced the cartridge, no black. there is definitely ink in the cartridge sponge, I have calibrated twice, cleaned print heads and even tried readding the printer and rebooting everything. Still no black. colours also washed out. kodak 5300.
