One of of the buttons on the monitor maybe stuck. Or you haven't pushed the right button yet to make it turn off. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00220294/c00220294.pdf http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodClassId=-1&prodTypeId=382087&prodSeriesId=322418 http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00220294/c00220294.pdf

Buttons get stuck in alot...if this happened then something is going to be on the screen all the time. lightly spray buttons with wd-40 enough to get into the plastic...then wipe with paper tower, take a toothpick and wiggle each alll around or finger and press each one if u dont hear a click the button is stuck in,,,now take 2 needles on both sides of the stuck button and pull it out...the display should disapear after a while...do this again if u need to adjust it...but dont use it if all possible.mark bad over top with black magic marker...or get it fixed right at a shop...should be very cheap to fix. Audio window comes on and off on its own

problem with moniter front panel MENU swithes.Replace all the swithes on the front panel.

If one swith is problem, automatically on or off will happen on its own.

This solution wil be the same even if brightness or contrast control will vary on its own!

Moniter's menu option gets automatically selected whenever i open my moniter screen

arpanpallar, If you are certain that pc not causing problem, then hp internal "switch-mode-power-supply" could be the problem. Noisey DC source will cause very strange things to occur on screen!! You or technician will need to look for common visual signs of bad capacitors on the circuit board. Do some reading in my and other CCFL back-lit lcd monitor tech's fixya profiles. 12fixlouie

Moniter lost full brightness

Download Powerstrip here http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm (on the left on top "PowerStrip - international). Install the program, and from there you can change the brightness, contrast etc.

What is "OPC"? It comes up and goes away.

OPC_ Optical Picture Control
Automatically adjust the brightness of the screen.
You can change the settings in the menu option.
It's in Menu, then picture, then OPC.

OFF- The brightness is fixed at the value set in "Backlight"

ON- Automatically adjusts

ON: DISPLAY- Displays the OPC effect on the screen while adjusting the brightness of the screen.

If you don't want the silly display from popping up all the time, go into to menu and change the setting to ON; instead of ON: DISPLAY
