Dishwasher keeps running in wash cycle

I have a Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTPSA Built-in Dishwasher that we have hardly used because it will just keep running and running in the wash cycle unless we leave the hot water running in the sink and even then it runs for a couple of hours

I lifted this off the tech sheet for your dishwasher, it explains your problem of long wash times.
Heater or temperature

My Whirlpool dishwasher is stuck on the clean cycle?

If it continues to run without any alarms or flashing light, I would assume the heater is packed up. It is looking for the water to reach the correct wash temperature.

Try to run on the cold water cycles and see if there is any difference.

I have a whirlpool du1100xtpsa built in dishwasher that won't stop running. It take 6 hours to do the full cycle. What do you think is wrong?

i know that there are some eco settings that take longer and thus use less energy ensure you are not in one of these settings altough 6 hours seems very long.

I would get an engineer to look at it as it could be one of several issues.

I hope this was useful

Dishes not washing very well

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.Clean the filter if there is accumulation of debris in the filter

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

Dishes have a film and residue left on them after they are washed

Hi
White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

Washing cycle runs for way longer than it should

Look at the manual for "Delime Mode".

Delime mode keeps a dishmachine in wash mode only untill deactivated.

Otherwise there is an issue with your timer.
