Memory Card Problem

I just bought a 512mb xD memory card for my A330 Fuji Digi Cam....I put it in and turned on the camera, getting message "Frame No. Full". I have done reset and format from the camera menu with no results. Have you seen this before? Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

Capacity listed in the manual goes up to 512 mb, which is what I put in. Thank you for your help anyways. :)

ok.....camera has the correct firmware, but apparently the mem card does not. The thing to do is DL the new version of firmware onto the card......How do I do that?

    thank you for any help!!!!

I've solved it.
I'll bet a buck you also bought a memory card reader.
If you hook the memory card (or camera) to a computer, you'll see a directory with a name like fuji_999.
After you download the pictures delete that directory from the memory card, and the problem's solved.
I just did it with a 1 gig xd card in my daughter's fuji 480. It had a main directory on the card called DXsomething, and 2 subdirectories, fuji_100, and fuji_999.
I deleted all three directories (after saving the photos), and the problem is gone.
Hope it works for you.

You could try formatting the card while it is in the camera, using the menu option on the camera?

You need to download the latest available firmware update. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/a330/fupd.html This will allow you to use the new "type M" xd cards.

have you another card to check out by
It could be a dodgy card.
Also if you have a card reader [or access via a friends computer] check the new card in theirs.
I could be a camera or a card fault- some more checks to tell which are needed.

Memory cards do not carry 'firmware'
Any firmware update would relate to the camera.
If you have installed such a file on the card then put into the computer via a card reader and delete from there.
But do not format the card in the computer
this is a camera only function

Perhaps a dud card - have you checked that angle?

Just purchase a 512mb memory card for my Fuji A330 I am able to take one picture but when I attemp to take a second picture in get the message "Write error" and it will not record that picture. ...

The A330 was first introduced in March of 2004 when a 512mb memory card would have cost more then the camera. First thing to mind with this problem has the "new" 512mb card been formatted to this camera? You may want to format the card twice and try it again. I know this may sound odd but even with my "older" Pro camera (5 Years) I had to download new updates to allow it to accept anything beyond an 4gig Memory card

I own a fuji finepix a330 camera, am very satisfied with performance I need an xD card. What is the maximum memory can this camera handle??? I purchased a 1GB card and the camera will not accept it

The camera is designed to accept up to a 512mb card. However, it can accept up to 2gb if you go to the support section of the Fuji website and download the firmware upgrade for your camera. Just be sure to follow the upgrade directions perfectly or you could end up with a dead camera. Don't worry, if you follow the directions, everything will be ok.

Memory cards in fuji a330

Yes it has to be an XD. They are physically different in size and shape. Although they both use JPEG photo formatting.

Xd memory card

A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe. NOTE: During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive. To resolve this error, try the following:
  • Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
  • Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.

Uji fine pix a 340 card not initialised

Using an A330 - turn on the menu... Burrow down to the set-up menu.  Then choose "format".
I don't know how similar your menus and buttons are to my A330 - but this should be a good starting point.

Help

What type of memory card are you using?  Is this a new problem since you've started using a new memory card?
The A330 can't use some of the newer types of xD cards.  These have letters before the file size like "H512mb" or "M1gb".
You can only use plain xD cards with no letter in front, like the small 8mb or 16mb card that came with the camera. Or, you can download a firmware upgrade to us type "M" xD cards. Read about that here: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/a330/fupd.html

Or, if a new memory card is likely not the problem, you could try re-initializing the card.  Make sure to copy any pictures from the card onto your computer first.  Re-initializing will erase all data from the card.
In the Menu, use the right button to go over to "Set".  Arrow up to choose "Set-up".  Then arrow down on the "1" screen to "Format".  It will step you through reformatting the card.
Hope this helps, -Kelly.

Memory Problem

have you tried formatting the card first within the camera, as it may be corrupt, or try it in a card reader and format that way.

Problem with 'write error' on memory card

Make sure you got a card that is compatible to your camera. In my case, I bought a new 512mb Fuji XD card to get the same "write error" message. I needed a type "H" but bought "M". I had to go to www.fujifilmusa.com to upgrade my camera to be compatible with the newer cards that are out now.
