Connect your player to the your computer using a usb cord. A screen should pop up asking you what you wish to do with your device, choose the program you would wish to put music on with: windows media player, rhapsody, etc. Go to the sync tab and drag music to your player
It seems as though the the damage is not totally visible. If you have the manufacturer's warranty you ought to try sending it in for a replacement MP3 player.
