SOURCE: Inoperative Ice Maker

The icemaker stops working because excessive water gets into the control box(where circuit board is housed) through the shaft hole of "finger" and freezes the wheels to turn the "ice-bucket-full detector rod". This stops to send the signal to open water valve.
To fix, remove the icemaker from the wall (need remove two screws - make sure power switch is OFF) and carefully separate the snap-on cable (retangular shape) and a ground cable on the bottom side of the icemaker. (Now you can remove the icemaker out of the refrigerator).
You can open the contol box (need unscrew one and carefully prop it open using a screw driver or a knife. You can unplug color corded snap-on cables for easiness to work (very simple).
You will see ice formed around the plastic gear wheel controlling the "ice-bucket-full detector rod". Remove all ice and dry all the parts in the box and put them back. Make sure all the cable are back to the matching color receptable(only fits in the right place). Connect the cable(rectangular shape) and connect the ground cable. Mount the incemaker on the wall using two screws you removed at first.
Turn the power ON and reset the system by press down the ice cube size selector until the "fingers" make a full cycle. You will see the metal rod moves up and down as system resets. During this cycle the water will be filled into the icemaker.
I believe this icemaker has a design flaw but it's very simple to correct the problem you are experiencing. You do not need much electronic or mechanical knowlege to fix this.
Best wishes

SOURCE: LG LRSC 26923TT Side by Side Refrigerator Problem with ice maker

We have the same problem with the ice cube tray. Repairman said the tray must be replaced every year as continual bending warps it out of shape. Replace every year and your problem is solved.

SOURCE: LG SXS Refrigerator LSC26905 ice maker

I was able to order the ice tray myself and install it in the fridge - it's not hard. I ordered from one of the parts sellers linked to at the LG website, not those listed in other posts here.

Here's how to replace the tray:

You need to remove the tray dumping mechanism to do this.

  1. Remove the ice bin, set it aside (don't forget to deal with the ice melt).
  2. Turn the ice maker off (LG says to unplug the fridge, I didn't).
  3. On the left hand side of the ice tray dumping mechanism there is a screw helping to keep the entire thing suspended from the ceiling of the freezer. Remove that screw- don't worry, the mechanism will stay put for now.
  4. The dumping mechanism can now slide forward- note that you can't completely remove it from the freezer yet, but slide it forward and it will no longer be suspended from the ceiling. Don't let it drop or hang.
  5. You need to disconnect its power supply now. On the left hand side you should see a small bundle of wires coming from the back of the freezer to the dumping mechanism. It connects to the dumping mechanism's set of wires with a pair of white plugs. Pull these plugs apart. You may need to pry the catch on these plugs apart while you pull.
  6. Now you can take the dumping mechanism out of the freezer (and close your freezer).
  7. To remove the ice tray you need to slide the housing that contains the rotating motor out of the housing. This is on the right side of the mechanism. If you have trouble identifying it look at the underside of the entire thing and you'll see a small "test" button. That button is on the motor.
  8. To remove the motor you'll see two catches on the right side- you'll need to pull these catches out without breaking anything. You'll be able to slide the motor down and out when you get it right.
  9. Sliding the motor out lets you get the old ice tray out now. There is probably a set of white wires routed through a little catch on the old ice tray that you'll need to free.
  10. Put the new ice tray back on the motor. You'll need to get the left side secured at the same time you get the motor housing in its catches of the dumping mechanism.
  11. Reroute those white wires back on the new ice tray.
  12. Reconnect the electric wires to the housing.
  13. Slide the entire dumping housing back onto the ceiling of the freezer and screw in on the left side.
That's it. You can press that test button on the underside of the motor. This will dump the tray and immediately refill it with water so you can observe if everything is working.

SOURCE: LG refrigerator won't dispense water any more

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.

Your water control has two sides. One side is for the ice maker and other is the water disapenser. If the ice maker valve becomes mechanically defective the water valve can allow water to continue to flow or not flow at all. Replace the water control valve and I believe this will solve this porblem, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ice maker not making ice and water is not flowing

this could be several items so will go down the list in order... 1st you need to make sure you have a good clean filter or that it has been changed recently... sometimes removed and reinstalled will also help... 2nd do you have 120 volts ac current to the water valve when called for water example" someone pushing the water dispenser handle while you test... if you have 120 volts and no water coming you have a bad water valve... if the dispenser is working but the ice maker is not filling with water they do have dual water valves and one side can actually be bad... before shooting the water valve down though if your getting water to the dispenser but not to ice maker make sure the unit is actually calling for water... on most of these ice makers there is a gear motor on the front part of ice maker there will be a white cover over the front of unit remove it and turn gear motor makes sure it is not broke.. is there frozen water in ice maker if so may be the heater on ice maker is bad... if no water again before shooting down water valve make sure the fill tube coming into ice maker is not froze up...if it is froze up most likely you have a weak water valve and needs to be replaced due to not seating properly.... hope this helps hard to diagnose when not sure what all you have already tested or not...

Ice maker no longer makes ice; water still comes for the filered water outlet but there appears to be no water going to the ice maker;

THE WATER VALVE IN THE BACK IS A TWO PART SYSTEM. EVEN THOUGH YOU GET WATER FROM THE DOOR THE ICE MAKER SIDE OF THE VALVE COULD BE BAD. CHANGE VALVE. B4 YOU SPEND THAT KINDA MONEY--DO A SELF CHECK FIRST--POUR WATER IN THE ICE CUBE TRAY. IF IT FREEZES AND DUMPS THEN CHANGE THEWATER VALVE. IF IT FREEZES BUT DONT DUMP CHANGE THE ICE MAKER.

The ice maker doesnt work, and in the day several times appears water in the floor, in the side of the door of the ice maker

Uplug refrigerator and remove the ice maker so we can look at the tube that comes into the back of the ice maker. It maybe the ice maker is calling for water but ice or a crack in the tube that delivers the water is being deverted to inside the freezer area. Also look behind the fresh food compartment door and see if you can send me the model number so I will be able to go over the correct model. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?
