I was going through the settings of the dvd player, and i pressed something and now whenever it plays a dvd its in black and white and the screen is basically just screwed, you cant see a thing. And even if i get the menu back up, you cant see it because it looks the same on the screen. I was just wondering if you could tell me what steps I could take to fix the problem or email me the manual as I have lost mine. Thanks Ben.

Re: DVD player wont show on screen
You can reset the dvd player back to the original settings by doing the following:
While stopped, press and hold [QUICK OSD] [DVD-S29] or
[ADVANCED DISC REVIEW] [DVD-S26] and [PAUSE] on the unit
and then also press and hold [< OPEN/CLOSE] on the unit
until ?Initialized? disappears from the television. Turn the unit
off and on again. All settings will return to the default values.

Today with HD High Definition TV these kind of problems appears because the new dvd players have more video resolution options, so, for playing all variety of dvd, and home done dvs,s (like family movies on dvd) you need set up your resolution video on your DVD player at 480i or 480p option, not higher because some DVD movies (mainly oldies) have lower resolution than newer , for example new movies on HD format have 1080 P resolution, and if you have this option chosen in your DVD player you only can see this kind of videos, on the other hand if you have chosen 480i or 480 p on your dvd player , you can play all dvd formats including home movies made with any movie software, in this way you can play dvd-r and +r movies and of cours you can play HD movies also.So put some dvd where your dvd player works well (you need see the dvd menu in the tv screen), then press stop. Then press setup in your remote control, go to video resolution and choose 480 I or 480p, then press ok AND ENJOY THE MOVIE. Smart techniques
I found this on the PROSCAN website under customer support manuals. The website is www.oncorpus.com.I hope this information helps you with your problem. IMPORTANT THE LABEL SIDE OF THE DVD MUST FACE THE BACK SIDE OF THE TELEVISION 1. Press the ‘INPUT’ button to select ‘DVD’ mode, if no disc is inserted yet, the display shows ‘No Disc’. 2.Insert a DVD with the printed side facing towards the rear of the TV/DVD Player (see below) 3.The TV will first display ‘Loading’, then change to ‘DVD-video’. Most DVDs will show some preliminary information then stop at a main menu screen. 4. Press PLAY/PAUSE to play it directly. Or press the DVD-MENU button to access the disc menu during playback. 5.Use the direction button on the remote control to select the desired option. Press ENTER to select the option or press the ► button. Playback will now commence. 6.After playback, press the EJECT button on remote control or EJECT button on TV/DVD to remove the disc. Note: No function‘’ will sometimes appear on the screen after a button is pressed. This indicates that the function is not supported at the current time.

My grandmother had the same problem. Whenever you press "timer set" to set the timer, it automatically turns off the VCR and whenever you turn it back on the VCR is locked and it's stuck on DVD. All you have to do is press "timer set" to unlock the VCR side. Then you may have to press "VCR" to switch it back. Hope this helps.
