Microwave stopped working. 7 years old. When we 'start', the light comes on and it counts down to zero, but the turntable does not rotate, the fan does not come on and there is no microwaving occuring.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up. If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you). contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....
I have a FNCB115GC Microwave problem. The microwave has a icon on the left hand side of the panel that looks like a opened book on a stand with lines on top. This is best that I can descibe it. The microwave turntable does not move or the microwave does to come on but the light comes on and the timer will count down. I have cleared the microwave and unplugged it with no results. There are no recalls on GE over the range microwave JVM1540DN1WW but there SHOULD BE! Mine lasted only a year and a half and then started running and heating with the door open. Shortly after that it stopped heating at all. The light and fan works, and the keyboard lights up but the turntable doesn't turn anymore (yes I made sure the turntable was turned on), and it doesn't heat. It will count down like it's heating but it doesn't heat. Changing the door switches didn't work. Husband thinks it is the magnetron which is expensive to fix. I won't ever buy another GE microwave period! Check the web and you will see all the similar complaints. I just searched online and for a lesser price than I paid for the GE, Samsung sells one that has the one year warranty but also has a 10 year warranty on the magnetron.
sounds like there is a switch that is bad. you can go buy a new MW for about 200$ and in yours if there is a major problem then i would just go buy a new one but might be worth a repair man to come check it out
pleas do not poke around in the microwave as it carries a charge of 5000volts and can kill you even if not plugged in DON'T TOUCH THE WIRES WITH BRAIDS ON THE OUT SIDE if you must get inside of the unit
Most likely the bottom door switch. Dacor units are built by Sharp and that switch is a very common problem. You'd either need to check the switch with an ohm meter or remove the cover of the switch to see if it's burned inside.
