I was cleaning the screen on the tv one afternoon and when I went to power it up it suddendly started to smoke and I heard loud crackling and popping sounds coming from the back of the set. After taking off the back of the tv I turned the power on again to see where the sound and smoke was coming from. There is a part that has the words Focus and Screen written on it that started to smoke. My first thought is to see if this part can be replaced and secondly if this is the underlying problem or can this be a side effect of another problem within the unit. If this part can be replaced does anyone know the actual part number? Thanks for any help you can provide.
This part is called the Focus Block and has 6 controls, 3 for focus and 3 for screen. The screen is the overall brightness of the CRT and the focus is the sharpness. The part can be ordered by description from any RCA parts distributor but the controls should be set by someone with experience.
