I have just acquired a Profile 3 that was functioning a few months ago but now will not power on. The green light on the PS brick is on when plugged into the wall but goes out as soon as I plug it into the computer. Has anybody seen this symptom before? I have lots of experience with computers and hardware but am new to this Profile configuration. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

This is not a laptop and therefore requires the brick PS in order to work. The Profile 3 has the motherboard integrated into the module with the display and removeable drives so ther is no way to just bypass the power supply brick. thanksThis is not a laptop and therefore requires the brick PS in order to work. Sounds like the dreaded power supply is going out, I repaired one 3 months ago with a bad power supply. These units are notorious for power supply failures. Replacement power supplies are available from Shopjimmy.com, or ebay.com, just to name a few. Personally I would go with Shopjimmy.com, they back their parts up with 6 month warranties. You never know what you are getting on Ebay.
Check the colored light on the power brick. It should be orange when the xbox is off and green when it's on. If the light doesn't light up then you have a bad power brick.
If you only purchased it a few months ago then why not return it...? They generally come with 3 year warranties, so unless you bought it 2nd hand you should be fine...
You can daignose if the problem is with power brick or computer itself, by connecting any other electorinc device from power brick. See if the green light continue to blink. Further there is a chart given on the power brick, which indicates which lights should be ON for normal state. You can also try replacing the phuse on power brick, if faulty.
