we have the same problem and tok it to a tv repair who told us it was a main computer board which would cost aproximately $600 but was not sure that this was the problem. they had the tv for over a month with no repairs. My tv is a 65 inch flat lcd mitsubishi. look online and take it to a reputable mitsubishi certified repair company. This may not be our problem and according to certifiable repair company it may not be worth fixing! The tv is only 1 1/2 years old which is sickening that it did not last longer. We had purchased it from circuit city, whom are now out of business and warranty is invalid! We were not happy with this news!

I have a 2003 mitsubishi WS-55711. While watching TV the other day it just shut off. When I pressed the power button, the green light turned on for approximately 3 secs, then shuts off. I've attempted to simply unplug it for a period of time in hopes that it would possibly reset. However, the same thing happens. Is this a problem I can fix on my own or does a professional need to fix it? If I do have a pro fix it, what is the likelyhood that it will happen again? Should I just invest in a new TV? Thanks

It sounds like you have the blinking light of death! This is a common problem with these Mitsubishi TV sets. The DM board has a fault inside of it. The DM board is the digital control board. The DM board will cost over 700 bucks and the labor will be another 2 or 300 bucks. There is however, a fix I have posted here to assist those who are handy with things like this. You can see this how-to Here: Now this is not the exact set you have but the repair procedture should be the same. there is even a link where to get the right parts from. If your set does not look like the one I used in the instructionms. I do have an update for sets with a light engine inthem to help locate the DM board and to take it out . Then simply follow the rest of the instructions as I saids before. If you want the update, leave an e-mail address and I will forward it too you. If you can do this repair, and a lot of peeps have with no problem, save at least 800 to 1000 bucks! Good Luck

Sounds like your TV is overheating. How dirty is the filter on the side? Is the fan on the back turning ok:? Does it look real dirty? Is so, a good cleaning is in order. Also, there is a fan under the lamp. Can you determine if it is working...the air flow may be obstructed (from the clogged filter) and it takes some additional time to cool.
