Toshiba SD-V55HT stuck in Progressive scan mode.

Hello

Progressive Scan Video provides the highest resolution
pictures with less flicker and line structure

If you are using the COMPONENT/PROGRESSIVE

SCAN VIDEO OUT jacks, but are connecting the

DVD/VCR Receiver to a standard (analog) television,
set Progressive Scan to Off

If you are using the Component Video jacks for

connection to a TV or monitor that is compatible with a
progressive scan signal, set Progressive Scan to On.
To ON and OFF this function, Press "Setup" to display the setup screen.
Surf through, and hilight "Progressive scan" and press "Ok or Enter"
Here you can set this function ON or OFF. If you wnat to get it OFF, select OFF and press Enter.
OK.

Component resolution why does it not want to do 480p

480p is used in LCD TVs to make the image look less pixelated. You have a CRT which doesn't support progressive scan

When connecting the dvd player using component cables and audio cables, go to the progressive scan setting on the dvd player and select it. Once I activated the progressive scan, the problem was solved.

"Unusable Signal"

Ok, I stopped short of going to Best Buy to get a new TV b/c my DAD suggested I pull the DVD player on another tv.

Dang it, he was right!. Same "audio no video" problem.

After playing with multiple buttons shooting blindly I found the [ I/P ] button restored the picture immediately!

This stands for Interaced or Progressive scanning:

from wikipedia

"Progressive or noninterlaced scanning is a method for displaying, storing or transmitting moving images in which all the lines of each frame are drawn in sequence. This is in contrast to the interlacing used in traditional television systems where only the odd lines, then the even lines of each frame (each image now called a field) are drawn alternatively."

So, my Dad says that "TV s are based on the interlacing" technology. I must have picked progressive scan while I was in the dark fast forwarding last week.

No picture using component on Toshiba 32HL66

It may be a synch issue. Make sure your component input is set for the proper type of output. Your XBOX 360 is likely set to 1080i, but your DVD and PS2 are only 480i (or maybe 480p for the DVD if progressive scan). Sometimes component inputs are 'self adjusting' to the signal, but others require manual setting.
