Hitachi UltraVision CineForm 55VG825 55" HDTV Logo

Question about Hitachi UltraVision CineForm 55VG825 55" HDTV

1 Answer

Black Screen When I turn on the TV the power blue light and temp/lamp red lights turn on then the red lights turn off but the blue light stays on like normal. Problem is the screen is completely black...no color, nothing. There isn't any noise coming from the tv to give the impression that any thing is even on inside the tv. I tried unplugging it and then turning it back on...the first time the screen turned gray and was actually on but quickly went black and the temp light blinked for a while. But now that doesn't even work...just a black screen. I've replaced the light engine tuner before, when the screen had a red/pink tint.

It sounds as if the lamp has failed possibly due to a failed cooling fan (the fan should be the first thing to come on). here are the links to the user manual if you need it; http://merchant.satisfusion.com/sf/library/manuals/owners/50_55_60VG825.pdf and http://merchant.satisfusion.com/sf/library/manuals/owners/50_55_60VG825_Part2.pdf It may be worth trying to uninstall and reinstall the lamp, but usually these fail internally rather than having bad connections etc. It is often obvious when the lamp has gone from a visual inspection. If the lamp has failed, when you replace it, make sure the fan comes on - if not then turn off instantly and investigate further. One other possibility before buying a new lamp, is that the lamp compartment cover may not be properly fitted. This will interrupt the power, so I am assuming there is a microswitch or similar that the cover or the screws that hold it should contact. Possibility is that the cover is badly fitted, or a small piece of the cover has broken, which would normally contact the switch, or the switch is faulty - if you can see the switch then a continuity meter will easily test the switch. Also check that the lamp unit securing screws are properly tightened, they also may stop the TV powering on. Please ask again if you need more help with this, if you are unsure then a photo of the inside of the lamp compartment and the lamp itself may help :)

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

TV Not turning on , but blue power light is on

look in the back, see if the lamp is actually lit. If it is probably not a tv problem. If you can pull up the menu then you probably are on the wrong input. Are the fans running when you turn it on? IF fans are running might be lamp, if nothing is seen through the back.

Red lamp light stays light

I doubt that it is the optical assy. it sounds more like a chassis problem either on the DM or the FMT board.

check out www.tv-techs.com
if it is a chassis problem it will cost about $250.00 plus shipping one way to fix the chassis

TV WILL NOT TURN OFF

Greeting inmiltown,

It sounds like your approaching the end of your lamp's life. Most projection televisions have internal lamp timers. These lamp timers usually give you time to buy a new bulb before it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Hitachi 55VG825 rear proj television blinking light and screen doesn't light up

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...
