First thing to do is tell me what computer you have that you can connect it to, and what you have that you think might connect them, and then i can talk you through it from wherever you want to start

You may want to attempt a Repair - instructions for this process are specific to each model. You can find instructions by visiting www.philips.com/support and enter your model number (listed on the product itself, typically starts with "SA").
If you haven't already done so, you can reach Customer Support at 1-888-744-5477. An agent will also be able to walk you through this process.
I had the same problem and I figured that I couldn't do worse than uninstalling the program from my PC. When I plugged the mp3 back in I went throught the installation process and it uploaded all the stuff i had in it including the music that I had put in it. The problem started with the "update" that I was notified of through the net. My PC automatically alerts me to updates and that's when it happened. Also, when it was initializing I pushed the Play button and it started working again. I have never had a problem with mine untill I went to update but then again I probably don't use it as much as you guys do.
By the way if anyone is interested, mine records pretty good. I had to fool around with it until I figured out how to do it.
