Dolby DIgital 5.1 doesn't work with DVD', only DTS works.

I don't know what happened. I don't use my tx-ds575x all that much, but it should still work the way it used to. I can get movies with DTS ability to play out of the receiver, but I cannot get the ones with just dolby 5.1 to work properly. They only let me use pro-logic or regular stereo. I can even get the dolby digital light to work with my cable box where it is available, but not with my dvd's. Please help me. Thanks, Harry

I have Inkyou TX-DS656 and displays pro-logic when it should be working in dolby digital -- any clues who to contact at Onkyo because it happens with Comcast as well as my Sony Blue Ray DVD player - so it isn't the player

Have you changed your DVD player or it's settings? If the Dolby Digital light comes on then your receiver is working as it is detecting the signal format. I suggest that you check the set up of the DVD player and make sure that it is set for bitstream and not pcm.

The surround speakers are connected to my Onkyo TX DS575X but no sound is coming from them. Same with the center. Any ideas?

There will be no sound unless a Dolby Pro Logic or similar audio signal is in use. CD/DVD, broadcast etc.

How to play dts/dolby digital on HK AVR5

I believe he avr-5 has 6 channel inputs, what you will need is a dolby digital 5.1 and DTS outboard surround sound processor, say an item as the Technics SH-AC500 decoder, a Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 DTS version outboard processor/preamp, and many others on the market by different manufactors, Run the discrete audio outputs from the Processor into the AVR 5`s 6 channel inputs, select 6 channel input or DVD inputs on the receivers selector and your good to go. Be sure you are playing Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS encoded material.

No DTS-HDMA or Dolby TrueHD shown on display

DTS-HDMA and Dolby TrueHD cannot be passed to your receiver via bitstream on the PS3. DTS-HDMA cannot be decoded either so you're out of luck there.
Dolby TrueHD can be decoded internally on the PS3 assuming your firmware is up to date. Set the Blu-ray HDMI output to PCM and you can then pass it to your receiver.
If this doesnt work, do a system update on your PS3.
