I found a perfect universal remote with the logitech harmony 525. usb / infrared / internet upgradeable. also loads keyfunctions directly from the old remote, but most of the keys came directly from the standards offered. the configuration is web-based and always up2date. service people are also very helpful. can fully recommend it!

I am having a problem with my DVD 218. It sounds like the audio output is blown. I need a service manual to find and repair the problem.

First, the service manual for your Coby DVD 218 is not available. The manufacturer of the player did not produce a service/repair manual for it.

The problem might be from the audio cord of the player. Use another audio wire and observe the sound. Also, there are more that one audio out put at the back of the player, you could test other audio outputs on the player.

I just hope it is not an audio output problem as you guessed, because fixing is not as easy as you think.

Good luck.

The DVD tray will not come out when either the button the unit or the remote is pressed.

Since I patiently didn't hear anything in two months(!), I fixed the problem by purchasing another unit.

Yamakawa 275 DVD Player

Possibly in the wrong output mode. (i.e. in PAL-60 when NSTC is needed)
On the remote, press the PAL/NSTC button to cycle through the output modes.   Choices are: NSTC, PAL, PAL-60 and AUTO.
Also make sure the correct TV type is selected in the System Setup menu.

Code Number for Remote Programming

Here is the link for the 8300 user manual if you need it; here is manual for the dvd player Not sure but try 438 or 445 as a code for your dvd, 445 most likely to work. (here is the link i got that from); if this doesn't work then find a universal remote that you can get hold of easily near you and tell us the model number, we could probably tell you if it will be compatible with both machines and what the codes are. Hope this helps :)
