Acer AL1511 15" LCD Monitor Logo
roy stuart Posted on Jun 26, 2007

Acer AL11511 I have found this product very disturbing with too much brightness. When I play DVD's I find the picture on the monitor is dark but when I am close the picture brights up alot. I notice other product types don't have this problem. The resolution of brightness and contrast seems to be an acceptable level. Is there any solution to this problem so that its not too bright and resolves the DVD problem. Even when doing MS Word docs the brightness has a terrible effect. Please advise accordingly. Thanking you, Roy

To even things out you need to use the controls on the monitor to lower the brightrnes. to acceptable levels. When playing a DVD there are seperate controls in the software and your graphics driver to adjust the Video Overly settings. Look for settings called gamma and brightness in the video overlay settings in the windows display properties panel. This should help even things out some. Deal is to crank down the brightness on the monitor and crank it up in the video settings in windows. It will make the DVD's brighter and rest of the time the regular screen darker.

My Ecco TV is playing but the problem is pic is not clear it's dark . Please help

The screen may become dark if Picture mode is set to Cinema or Custom. If the screen continues to remain dark after changing the picture quality mode, go to the Backlight, Picture, Brightness menu and adjust the brightness to your liking. When Power Saving is fixed to Low or High, the screen becomes dark. Some TVs have a Light Sensor so the picture will just become brighter or darker depending on the lighting in the room.
You can also try programming from a different source, like a DVD player or VCR to check whether the problem is caused by the device that sends the signal to the TV.

Dark picture on monitor

Occasionally, you may find your laptop's monitor is too dim for your liking. A normal desktop computer's monitor has an on-board menu system that lets you adjust the brightness and picture control settings as you please. A laptop monitor has no such controls. You can adjust the brightness of your laptop monitor using your laptop's keyboard.

1. Press and hold the "FN" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is the "Function" key, which operates much the same way that the "Shift" key does: It allows keyboard buttons to be used for multiple purposes. It's located in the lower left corner of most laptop keyboards, next to the "Windows," "CTRL" and "ALT" keys.

2. Look at the top row of keys on your keyboard for a key with a tiny triangle pointing upwards and the symbol of a sun on it. This is the "Increase Brightness" key. With the "FN" key held down, press the "Increase Brightness" key. On most laptop keyboards this is the "F7" key, but it varies depending on the model.

3. Continue to hold down the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" key until your dim laptop monitor has reached the level of brightness you require. A laptop monitor can only get so bright. It will stop at its highest setting.
4. Release the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" keys. You have now fixed your dim laptop monitor.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya

My acer monitor displays the acer background, makes a noise like a buzzing sound and goes black, and then after all my settings and background picture and information are complete and up, the monitar...

It sounds like a backlight or inverter problem. You can verify this by using a bright light to shine on the screen surface. If you can see the picture (but it will be very dark) that means that the backlight which illuminates the screen from behind. You would have to replace the inverter to test it, but there is good news: These are pretty difficult to find parts for, and not an easy repair for an amateur; acer products usually have a 3 year warranty on the backlight/inverter system, so I would start there.

When we play DVDs, the picture is very dark and is

Check your dvd settings, read the manual that came with it. Or you can just pump up the brightness on the tv when watching movies.

Anyways, hope this helps.

Picture is dark. How do I adjust brightness

Look on your keypad. You should see two suns..press the windows key and the sun that points up. That will increase the brightness. Also if you run on batteries it's not as bright as running on AC power in order to say battery life.

Dark

It could be a few things, it may be the monitor itself, which naturally has dark picture.
Or by factory default the monitor has low brightness.
Try going into the menu and putting the brightess up.
Most monitors have low brightness by default.
have a happy new year.
