I bought a genie powermax 1200 3/4 hp from lowes and installed it. The installation seemed to have been ok. During the programming phase trying to set the down/up limits there seemed to be a problem. The door would only move approx 6 inches at a time instead of moving freely down/up while holding the buttons down. Here is what I have trouble shot so far: 1) the sensors are installed correctly, one green, one red, if you break the beam the red flashes. 2) released the garage door manually and the door moves freely (this also worked fine with the previous opener which was 1/2 hp) 3) tried moving the carriage without the garage door attached and the carriage stil only moves approx 6 inches at a time. 4) checked the rail, and it is level with the garage floor.
You need to program the unit for up and down stops you can download the instructions from the link below

On the side of the motor unit you will find the 'down limit' adjustment. Turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. It may help if you remove the cover and you can see the limit adjustment assembly. It will help you understand the problem.

is bulb on motor flashing 10 times. then you have electric eye problem. otherwise, sounds like you need to increase down force a hair. adjustement is on logic board, right knob.
Take the opener apart and see if there are about 4 numbers that can be set. If you have an older remote take it apart and match the numbers, then program it.
