Front screen only shows the time

The front screen on my razr v3 sometimes only shows the time and not the words "verizon wireless", no indicators either. the phone also looses the charge very quickly and the battery level indicator is not functioning properly

My Razr V3c had a similar problem, but even more bizarre! The front screen would randomly display TWO times. The time in the normal location was incorrect and the second time was correct, but UPSIDE DOWN. I have searched all over the web including this site and have not found this exact problem anywhere. When this happened, it also had a second (upside down) status bar and only "Wireless" was visible between the two times; instead of "Verizon Wireless". I could always fix it by opening, then closing the phone. Finally it started showing (a single) incorrect time and getting stuck at that time. WEIRD, HUH?? Anyway, I decided to try this guys' idea and unhooked, cleaned and rehooked the connections on the circuit board. Since he did not give any details about this, I thought I would. 1/ remove the upper back cover and take out the battery. 2/ remove two tiny torx style screws holding on the bottom half of the phone back.. these become exposed when you remove the battery cover. 3/ carefully pry off the cover... it will pop off with slight twisting pressure from a knife between the perimeter of the cover edge and the rest of the phone. 4/ one of the connections comes undone automatically when removing the cover. 5/ remove the other connection by pulling on the square silver piece at the end of the ribbon cable which is attached to the back of the cover. 6/ blow out any dust and carefully brush the contacts with a fine tooth or paint brush. 6/ reassemble in reverse. So far this has worked for me and the phone is working as it should. The only tool you will need is the torx wrench, which the average person does not have lying around. I have a set of them and tried a few until I got the right one... it was stamped with 99-62. I assume that is some sort of sizing. Good luck!!

I have had a simular problem with mine and just fixed it. My phone was doing simular things, but it would also sometimes not show the outside display, or half would be upsite down. Also occasionally when I opened the phone I only saw a white screen. **FIX** There is a small ribbon cable that comes from the top half (w/ the screen) and connects into the circuit board in the bottom half (under battery). It came loose which caused all of my problems. If you clean that connection and put the phone back together it should be good as new.

The front screen is blank - it doesn't show what is on the inside flip screen

This happens with most Razr's. They aren't quality phones. I think the best way to fix the problem is to get a new phone. You can take it to your wireless provider's service center and they will replace is for free if it's under warranty. If it's verizon you can purchase a used phone from a local retailer for a cheap price.

I have a Moterolla V3,my LCD screen is not displaying correctly, I see white and red, but I can't make out anything else. When the phone initially turns on the screen displays the Verizon perfect...then it...

The flex that connects your screen to the phone board is bad and has worn out. It is commom with flip phones. All you need do is to replace the flex and be very mindful of how you close the flip phone.

Take care.

The phone works, recieves and makes calls but both screens are dead???? verizon motorola razr v3

How about the buttons next to the screen? If you do not hear anything when you press those buttons, it is going to be the flex cable. The flex cable connects the phone between the hinge. It connects the 2 displays (it's really one display part with both screens, it has a screen on the front and back).

Basically you have the most common problem with the RAZR, the screen part connects to the bottom via the flex cable and is partially damaged or has ben severed. Not terribly hard to fix but you would need someone who can take it apart and who can get the part as well.
