I have the discs you are looking for, i have the MDV-08D 2008 edition ver. 2.2 this will surly unlock your deck. no need to pay $200- $400, il sell you a copy for $75 bucks! You can contact me at [email protected]
You will need to buy a newer version for that type of stereo bro or if u can find an MDV-07D nav. disk ver. 2.1 it will for sure unlock everything!
I have the same problem before too when I bought my eclipse avn5500 stereo off the street and when i installed it on my car it just say "check map disk". so what i did is i went to buy the MDv-07D from a friend that works at a audio place and i have it unlocked over there..
Hopefully this could solve your problem :)
If you have more question about it just contact me thru my email at [email protected]
You probably need to get a updated disc!!! The disc your friend has is most likely a older version!!! Usually every 2-3 years most nav, seem to do that.........

When the eclipse was installed the owner registered a disk for security reasons..... when power is disconnected the only way to resolve it is put the registered disk in!
Im just taking a guess, but i assume you are talking about a Navigation DVD disc. Does your deck say "Check Map Disc"? they are pretty expensive they range from $200-$400. depending on the version. i have a copy of the 2008 edtion nav disc ver. 2.2 for $75 you can contact me at [email protected]
You need version 1.3 Map Disc in order for your unit to do anything. It is a safety feature. it is not gonna work at all I have the same problem. I need 1.2 Map Disc
Installing the DVD Map Disc
Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
Press the NAV hard key.
Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in.
The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard. Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc
The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out.

a menu will appear and ask you for a code. you have to call 800-233-2216 and pay $25 for the code. you will have to explain where you bought your eclipse and or know the name of the original owner. if it doesnt match they will not give it to you
