the standby light on my MVD2040 dvd player stays on and... nothing. until two days ago it worked just fine, and now... nothing.

Memorex MVD2040 (Suffix A) worked fine for about 8 months, but now it's dead (as a doornail). No indications of any power although other devices (TV VCR) work on the same outlet(s). .

when i on the dvd player ther is no power,i open the cover when i check the power port ther is one ic number DH321 it was burn.pls in form to me what is the proublum if i change the ic DH321 it will be ok or i want to change any think els.pls inform the details and reply

i too have the mvd 2040 dvd player im getting no power response and i believe one of my dvds is being held hostage... any ideas on how to get it open?

I have a Memorex MVD2023 DVD Player which I've had less than a year, and have the same problem - suddenly no power. The Standby/Power On indicator light is off. Any solution or just buy a new machine?

I know y'all have. Probably thrown your DVD players away by now. But I found a Memorex DV2040 at a Goodwill and it worked for over a year and suddenly stopped receiving power. It was also unplugged for months before this. My brother took it apart and recentered the fuse inside after checking it and when he put it back together and plugged it in, it works fine. It could be that someone replaced the fuse and used the wrong one, but.. Just an idea if you're still struggling. I loved the pink paint and design and didn't want to lose it.

No power whatever

Check voltage output of the power supply.

If below the indicated voltage on the output terminals, replace the capacitors across the output terminals with the same specifications.
If there's no voltage output at all and the fuse is intact, replace the 8-pin power regulator IC with same specifications.. It is usually DH321 IC.

No power

Sounds like you have a capacitor problem.You need to open the dvd player up and check all the capacitors located on the power board.Make sure it is unplugged and be careful.There will still be some charge inside the unit.

My Memorex DVD player will not open or come on

I just fixed a Memorex 2042 DVD player. Before the fix, the standby light was lit, nothing else works (with remote or buttons on the player panel). Opened up the machine, saw a capacitor bulged (1000uf/10v). Did some soldering work and replaced it. All is fine now.
