It says Hard Disk Problem...

Hi. My friend dropped my Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra and now it says Hard Disk preoblem. Can some one help me fix it?

The thing worth checking before you panic is that none of the connectors into the HD/MB have come loose - if you are not confident about opening the unit up then take it to someone who is - shouldn't be a big job to check. Next thing to try would be to format the HD - if you are very lucky it just might get it going again. Unfortunately hard drives are rather vulnerable to damage when dropped, especially if it was operating at the time, even if a format works the damage/problem might still come back. You can get replacement HDs, if you want to go that route please ask again and I can source you one, although prices are fairly close to the price of the whole unit from first impressions. Hope this helps :)

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click agree. This will start the download. Then run the program on your computer and you should be able to manage your Zen with this software. Let me know if it works.

Creative Nomad Jukebox zen xtra says Firmware problem

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would appear that the fix requires a Windows machine. Solution then would be two fold:
  • download the firmware update/fix even meant for Windows;
  • install and run Windows inside your Mac.
The last could be achieved by:

Your Creative Zen Nomad Xtra mp3 player uses a memory system similar to a flash/thumb drive much like the hard disk of any computer. Just as a computer on certain instances freezes/hangs, the same would happen to your MP3. Like again the computer, the OS would need to be re-installed. In your MP3 the OS is the firmware which has to be reloaded/updated.
