When I first set up my Brother MFC-7840W, I was able to do Scan to FTP, Scan to e-mail, Scan to File, Scan to Image. Now I can only do scan to FTP. I'm not connected to the machine via USB (I'm not sure if I was when I first tried this). But from my laptop (15" 2.2ghz MacBook Pro running Leopard), I can choose to scan and it will scan over wirelessly.
But I would like the freedom to be able to initiate a scan from the Brother MFC-7840W
I had the same issue - was previously able to scan to a number of different formats, then switched modems, providers and then only the scan to ftp option came up.
took me about an hour to figure out the solution, but now it works
for windows users:
* go to your control panel
* go to the scanners & cameras section
* your printer/scanner should show up here
* right click on it and select 'properties'
* select the network settings tab and then
-- enter in the correct ip address here OR
-- specify your machine by name (enter in name here)
hope this helps!
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response
Thanks, Joe
